Liljegren over Sandin would be more attractive. Van has no RHD left in this move. Can't see Van adding a pick.

This makes the team worse. Schenn would be an alright 7 th D option but i wouldn't want Myers even if he could be 75% retained. Hes tall, not good. Holl is better than him. Sandin has given up a few bad turn overs but its no reason to ship him away for a net negative value.

Schenn would be a more than capable 5th defenseman, he's played well enough to take on that responsibility

They don't have any RD to begin with. The 4 best assets are all going to Vancouver in this trade. It's ridiculous

You guys are so in love with Schenn. He's a 7/8 defenceman. The 4 best assets in this trade are all Leaf players going to Vancouver. It's a horrible trade for TO.

Schenn is a 5/6th defenseman, not a 7/8. You aren't even giving any consideration to anything going on hear, just blindly vouching for your Leafs for no good reason. I didn't even say Schenn was top 4 caliber

For those who think, "why would insiders talk about this rumor if it wasn't real?"

This, this is why? The moment you speculate on a trade involving TO, especially one that makes no sense and is horrible for TO, you get this. Endless debate online where fan bases from other teams and trolls lick their chops thinking they are going to screw over TO. It's ridiculous

Well I guess Myers and Schenn are technically RD however, Myers is a 3rd pair guy who should make less than 2 million and Schenn should be in the press box.

Except not everybody agrees that it's bad for Toronto, so you're already off base

Myers isn't a 3rd pair guy and he would get paid more than what Erik Gudbranson is making, and Schenn is more than capable of being an everyday player. You haven't done squat to get others to take you more seriously

Yeah canuck fans think it's good for TO because what's good for Vancouver is good for TO right? Nope. No one who doesn't want to see Vancouver win and TO lose thinks this is good

Yes, I've read it, but nowhere does he definitively say that Schenn shouldn't be an everyday player or that Myers is definitively a 3rd pair caliber guy

The trade proposal is obviously ridiculous, since it's a "blockbuster" deal with no stars involved, you're not going to see 3 or 4 role players be traded away for other role/depth players.

As for the debate, Schenn is a bottom pairing defenseman and could be pushed out to a depth role (7th D). While Myers and Holl are borderline top 4 Ds, when they are good they can be a solid 4th and if they are bad a solid 5th. They would be pushed into a bottom pairing role on a deep team, where they should thrive. It's not an exact science though, some players play worse with less minutes, like Klefbom before he was LTIR'ed, he would play like a top 4 if he was playing above 20 minutes, and if he was playing less he would struggle.

Schenn in ufa isn't making more than 1m without an overpay, since he could easily to turn into a 7th/8th considering his age. Myers and Holl could easily make 3m to 4m, and up to 4.5m on an overpay in FA. They probably make 2.5-3m on a discount or if they are to resign with their current team. Ofc, Myers won't be a ufa this season but the assumption here is if they were all hitting free agency.

It said Myers will need major retention to even move. 50% and you'll need to send something with him. To even have a conversation.

Myers will need 50% retained to be moved THIS YEAR, but not next off-season

Your opinion and GM's opinions may differ. Myers at 3 mil isn't as terrible as YOU think
