No from Winnipeg. The Jets need DeMelo and don't need Olofsson enough to justify giving up DeMelo.

I like Olofsson, but that’s a pretty steep price for the Jets. We do need forward help though

Would rather give up Mittlestadt than Olofsson

Well, I don’t know how high you guys are on Chibrikov, I just added him, it doesn't have to be he.

Olofsson with 2.5m for two years might look attractive, and he's not even the kind of player who needs to play in the top 6 to score points. His shot is still good.

It could be Olofsson + Jokiharju for DeMelo+

I don't really care Mitts or Olofsson, I just want to get DeMelo to play with Power for at least two seasons.

First, a good target for Buffalo, cannot speak for the Jets.
Second, why all of the hate for Casey among Sabre fans, yet there are other ACGM's who will make up decent trades to acquire him.
Casey is cost controlled at only $2,500,000 for the next two years and would still be an RFA, then ranks among the top 40 NHL centers in goals, pts, PK TOI/gm and FO's won are solid 2nd line center numbers.
Three Sabre forwards all play more minutes per game while four get more PP minutes per game. So this idea that he is getting elite ice time is denied by the facts.

EDIT
I should have added, that this post is not as egregious as others.
Other ACGM's are trading Casey for a third, a center having his season would return significantly more value than a third.
His PK TOI needs to be emphasized to indicate his skills beyond scoring points.
The fact that he has only one secondary assist also highlights his playmaking skills because 5 of his 6 assists are primary from making a key pass.
Well that is my rant, most likely wrong but it is my POV.

You see, scores are not everything. We also need a game of defense, a physical game, efforts. Mitts line has been producing almost nothing lately. I don't really mind keeping him for now, but I don't see a future for Olofsson and Mitts in Buffalo just yet, especially next season. Skinner is scores points, but he plays one game in five well and is being fed by Dahlin, Tage and Tuch. So maybe that's why we lose all the time, that our defense and our forwards play poorly in defense? I think it makes sense.

I can sum up Casey like this- I don't see him as a top 6 center on a cup winner, and he's not ideal as a third line center either (especially if you want more of a two way checking line). So I don't see him as a piece a want to build around. Don't take it personally if you disagree, there's lots of Sabres fans who would gladly move olofsson for two buttons and a tic tac, a guy I think should have a place here.

Hard to say how actual GM's value things, but if I'm Chevy I hang up right away. Olofsson is an empty-calorie scorer in my eyes, don't know much about Fitzgerald, but just barely cracking the NHL at 25 doesn't really excite me too much. Demelo is a strong defender on a good value contract, and Chibrikov in my eyes has middle-six upside (although he's struggled this season).

Edit: I like Olofsson, and wouldn't be opposed to adding him. Just not for Demelo AND a B prospect

The problem is that we need DeMelo and it doesn't have to be Chibrikov. We could add Jokiharju to the trade instead of Fitzgerald, he could replace DeMelo for Jets.

Olofsson + Jokiharju for DeMelo + ???

Again, I value Demelo's on-ice value a lot higher than I think his trade value is. I'd trade Schmidt, Dillon or Pionk before I traded Demelo, just because we don't have any other players who are as good at shutting down the game as him. I don't really want Jokiharu at all tbh, I'd rather just slot Heinola in, so if it was straight up for Olofsson I'd listen a little more. But who knows what a NHL GM values anyway these days...

Yes, I understand you, players like DeMelo and those like him are very valuable for the team.
