That trade will never happen. Florida pick is unprotected and is no 15 as we stand.

That would be a pretty easy pass from MTL.

As of right now that Florida pick would be at worst 16th overall if the draft was today (florida isnt in a playoff spot atm). That alone is worth more to the habs than a rental Severson. The habs already have Ghule Harris Xhekaj Matheson Barron long term and Savard Edmundson Kovacevic still around next year and thats before you get to the prospect pool. They dont need Severson.

Kovacevic has played well enough that with his league min cap hits for 3 years he will be a valuable piece if they do decide to move him next year if he keeps up his play. The habs dont need to move on from hoffman that badly.

Severson to Winnipeg would make more sense.
