Was this a good signing?

EV offense is play driving . You can be an elite point producer without being an elite play driver.

So that suggests he's being a good passenger? Ie he's doing well with what he's given, but isn't the straw that stirs the line as it were?

One of them was a shortened season, thus the .5. You must be fun at parties.

and we're a 1/4 of the way into this season. He's had 64 gp between teh two seasons. You're the one nitpicking to make it seem like he has only been playing at this level for a short period of time. Its been two years. He is as proven as most people getting a contract like this.

No he won't, it's still clear as day that Horvat isn't nearly as complete a player as Hintz is.

Time shall tell, but if Horvat approaches UFA, and keeps up as a top 5 goal scorer (as I said "keeps this year up"), I don't see how he doesn't make 10+. If he keeps up his scoring he'll have a 58 goal season...

Bo won't come close to that, mark my words. I'll be shocked if he even gets 40 goals this year, and that's still an extremely optimistic projection, assuming he doesn't miss any time with injury.

For sure. But the initial comment of mine you were replying to said if he keeps it up

He has to maintain a 30 goal pace in order to hit 40 goals this year. Considering he hit 30 goals last year, I think it's a real possibility.

Hintz is well on his way to get 30+ goals, AND he's a strong two way player, unlike Bo.

Even if he keeps it up, there isn't a big sample size of him being a 30+ goal scorer to go off of.

I suppose this contract is ok if you like having consistent, productive, underrated, defensively responsible players under contract for reasonable cap hits during their entire prime, but personally it's more fun when teams sign Ristolainen to big money contracts with term, only to watch him produce absolutely nothing while playing horrendous D.

But I guess this is ok in it's own way.

I think Hintz would hit at least $9M on the UFA market. This is a very solid extension. While this contract certainly carries some level of risk, I think the Stars are set up to contend for the Cup for the next several years.

You pay more to buy UFA years.....if Robo had gone long term his AAV woulda been higher as well
