Why not trade him at TDL, if out of the playoffs and then sign him next summer? It's not like he going to get a eight year contract from anyone.

Not enough for Sean and there is talk in Mtl to keep him. After the game last night, the Line with Slaf and Sean really looked good. HABS should keep him to help Slaf develop. Trading him would be a detriment to the team.

No team I'd taking on Mike Hoffman. He's a cap dump

Florida is looking at potentially losing Anthony Duclair because they don't have the cap space to activate his $3M cap hit off LTIR. Trading for Edmundson's $3.5M AAV just makes the problem $500K more annoying.

He has 43 pts in 83 GP with Montreal who is rebuilding... Sure he's far from a flawless player but at 2.25 for 1 year, he gives you scoring depth

Not saying teams would line up to acquire him at this point, but at that price he's not a cap dump anymore

Trading a rental to bring him back in the summer is a popular idea on CapFriendly, but realistically how many times has it been done? I think most players want to see what's out there in free agency. The only one I can remember off the top of my head is Tomas Plekanec, but he also had close to 1000 games with the same franchise. I just don't know how feasible it is.

I agree. He's not a $4M+ player at all, but he was kinda finding his game after his two-goal game against Detroit. He had 6 pts in 6 GP but he's missing in action since mid-November. Also, I think I remember you being Québécois. If so, ça m'a tellement faire rire quand Norman Flynn chialait à Hockey360 sur le fait que le Canadien n'avait pas mis Hoffman sur le PP1 contre SJ alors qu'il était blessé depuis déjà plus d'une semaine.

Missed that! Value is probably closer then - just depends on how Duclair looks when he gets back. That is, if Florida is able to hang on to him (I feel like this should be a bigger story than the Josh Anderson War currently waging, btw - a dude coming off a 30 goal season, signed to a very reasonable cap hit, on a team that literally can't fit him under the cap - fascinating stuff!)
