Jesse Puljujarvi is the Perfect Trade for the Jets and only trade Jets need

Created by: FuelYourJets
Team: 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 4, 2022
Published: Dec. 5, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I took out the UFA's and they are on the Taxi squad, but could still be in the lineup due to injuries. Added Chisholm and Gawanke to Taxi Squad because they could be trade pieces too. Also upgraded Stenlund over Gagner to the 4th RW and took more importance with an RFA for another year and younger at 26 with decent size. Stenlund is obviously an NHL player, with 14 points in 17 AHL games with the size of 6'4 210 lbs. He's a strong right handed RW the Jets need and could also use at the 4th C.
Initially before trading Stanley there is $4,004,643 available. Or $4,142,143 without Stanley(Capo's spot). Puljujarvi has a $3,000,000 million Cap hit.
Since trading for Jesse Puljujarvi, I think it would be good to drop Morgan Barron for now. Since he still has 18 games left with Waivers Exempt, and could keep a depth player from getting picked up. When injury opens up a spot later in the season, he could be called up, use the Waiver Exempt advantage and healthy scratch if need to.
Samberg still has 40 games Waivers Exempt. So Heinola could swap places with Samberg and get decent playing time for awhile here and there. Give Heinola time to find things to build on his game with-in the Jets system. Use the Waivers Exempt advantage. With Samberg's $925,000 there is $2,067,143 Cap Space.

FUTURE 2023-2024 LINEUP OUTLOOK

(*$775,000*?)
Cap Space = $64,321,191 with 16 signed
$19,178,809 with 7 to sign
or $4M Cap raise @ $22,178,809 with 7 to sign

Puljujarvi @ $4,125,000 x (3 or 4 Years)
*(Or $3,550,000 x 2 Years)*
Stenlund, Barron, Jonsson-Fjallby, Samberg, Berdin @ $775,000(1 year) x 5
= $8,000,000 - $19,178,809
= $11,178,089 Cap Space to sign Dubois
Then, sign Dubois @ $9,250,000 x 4 Years
*(Or $10,125,000 x 6 Years)*
Or $11,100,000 x 8 Years. Which would put Dubios as the 6th Highest Paid Player.

So $78,809 Cap Space would be left with Signing Dubois and Puljujarvi to the Max Amounts shown. And signing the Depth players to $775,000.
*Or $3,078,809 to give extra money to the depth players (If Cap Raises $4.0M). Any savings from Dubois and Puljujarvi could pay the Depth players more.
Future Cap raises will solve any issues, as it would any team. But I've shown how this is the Perfect Trade and route to the Jets could take, even starting the process with a call ASAP.
Yearly Cap Raises along with Cap freed up from Wheeler could help pay for Perfetti, Scheifele and Hellebuyck who are the most notable signings.(potentially locking up Pefetti to a steal of a deal)

Can't see why Edmonton would say no to this for the value. They would need to find another forward though.

Zero chance the Jets world offer anywhere close to that much. Both Jet players are more valuable on their own than JP.

Lucius certainly is. Stanley is a piece of thinly-stretched gruel scraped over too big of a piece of bread. Unless your argument is the Puljujarvi is strictly a cap dump at which point we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Well if Stanley is that he's still better than JP. Stanley is an NHL defenseman, JP is a nothing winger that can't put up points stapled to two of the best offensive players in hockey. I'd much rather keep the actual NHL player.

I'm not even especially high on Lucius, but trading a 19 year old former 1st for Jesse Puljujarvi is a fireable offense. No team wanted him for a 2nd in the offseason, and he's done nothing but prove every GM right for not doing that.

Thank you for finding the words I've always been searching for to describe Logan Stanley.

That's quite an overpay for Puljujarvi. He doesn't have much value, his stats are terrible.

I don't mind Puljujarvi but the Jets should probably just hang onto Lucius and see what he develops into, Stanley for Puljujarvi would be alright but Edmonton likely has no interest in that swap.

What happened to Dillon in your 23-24 projection.

Idk what Dubois will get but hopefully it isn't close to $11M for whatever team signs him.. lol.. If thats the overpay it'd take to keep him in Winnipeg it's best to waive goodbye.

FIXED UPDATED FUTURE 2023-2024 OUTLOOK
I noticed immidiately after posting that I made the honest mistake of not realizing I was doing the *future projections/ money wise projections* without considering Brendan Dillon in the Lineup. But who knows, maybe everything happens for a reason... Brendan Dillon would be the easiest move to add valueable assets back and free up money to Pay Dubois the big 4-8 year Contracts. Because currently we might only be able to afford to pay Dubois a 2-3 year contract. So trading Brendan Dillon would still give those possible 4-8 year contract *Projections* still value.
It didn't even take me a half hour to figure out the current proper *projections*. My power went out for 2 hours just before I was ready to post my fixes. Just decided to sleep on it, which also probably gave more time for more people to see. #WeAreWinnipeg

Cap Space = $68,221,191 with 17 signed
$15,278,809 with 6 to sign
or $4M Cap raise @ $18,278,809 with 6 to sign

Puljujarvi @ $3,000,000 x 1 year
Stenlund, Barron, Samberg, Berdin @ $775,000(1 year) x 5
= $6,650,000 - $15,278,809 (Or $18,278,809 /$4.0M Cap Raise.)
= $9,178,809 Cap Space to sign Dubois
Then, sign Dubois @ $8,875,000 x 2 Years
*Or @ $9,175,000 x 3 Years. Which is $600,000 more over the first 2 Years.

So $3,809 Cap Space would be left with Signing Dubois to the Max Amount shown. Also Signing Puljujarvi to the required $3,000,000. Then signing the Depth players to $775,000.
Or $3,003,809 to give extra money to the depth players.(If Cap Raises $4.0M) Any savings from Dubois could pay the Depth players more.
Future Cap raises will solve any issues, as it would any team. But I've shown how this is the Perfect Trade and route the Jets could take, even starting the process with a call ASAP.
