It’s not rocket science, it’s for roster flexibility, so they can assign guys in the ahl to try to acrue cap during the holiday roster freeze

If a team claims them then they will be forced to have them on their active roster during the roster freeze.

This what the lines were after MacKinnon went out
They were literally playing a top line of Newhook Compher Rantanen
A 2nd line of Cogliano Hudon LOC
3rd line of Megan Hunt Kaut
4th line Galchenyuk and Blidh
That’s 6 forwards that started the year in the AHL or were on waivers.

I'd say the only reason this ship is still afloat is Mac's near psychotic obsession with fitness and preparation that he imposes on the team, and living/training north of 5000 feet elevation. The Avs have the unique advantage of basically oxygen doping when they play at any other arena in the NHL (so long as the road trip is short)

No digs here, rather the fascination and awe that Colorado managed to find the perfect captain to maximize the natural advantage of their home environment and have him "infect" the entire team with his convictions and a fraction of his work ethic.

Long playoff battle? They swept 2 series and the other two went 6 that’s about as short as you can get. They have stuff going on that is just bad luck, I mean the call ups are getting hurt, those guys weren’t playing in the playoffs.
