Barrie sucks defensively but his offensive production is good enough to land a DFD like Edmundson especially since a RHD fills a need for MTL. Don't kid yourself.

I'm not Ken Holland, but I don't see why he would trade someone that may be of interest to MTL for a forward who isn't doing better than Barrie offensively when their need is defense and MTL has an LD available.

MTL isn't necessarily in the position to take on cap, so perhaps if a deal were to happen it might have to be Barrie+Puljujarvi for Edmundson+Hoffman/Monahan with picks to balance it out. Not sure if there is a fit here where the cap works. The Oilers do have guys that they need to give raises next year.

My original comment though was more about how you think Barrie is somehow worthless in comparison to Edmundson. Edmundson isn't anything special and just because Hughes is looking for someone to overpay for him, doesn't mean he will get Barrie who may fill a need for MTL. Holland would have to be foolish to overpay for Edmundson who is a surplus for them, while filling a need.
