There’s a lot to digest here. A lot that one could pick apart. I’m just gonna stick with a couple things.
1) Kane is worth quite a bit retained regardless of who he will or won’t waive for.
2) Justin Holl, despite would many thought a month ago, is not a cap dump. He is a 2M RHD who is invaluable on the PK. In todays NHL that is quite sought after.
3) Please consider other teams needs in trades.

Pretty horrid for the Leafs., 20 man roster. Getting rid of the very effective Hall for nothing. Leafs have no use for Hoffman this year or next.

you paying a 4th to dump Holl tells me that you don't follow the team at all. He has been getting number 1 minutes while all our dmen have been hurt and we haven't lost in regulation in like a month. He isn't the perfect player but he has earned his spot for the year 100%. Holl is not going anywhere.

Any trade with Kerfoot going to the Hawks as a cap offset (for say Toews or Kane) will be difficult. Toronto will want to wait to deadline for cap reasons but I think Hawks would want a trade sooner for a little time for Kerfoot to rebuild some trade value (he's had a bit of a step back this year).

Kerfoot to that end will be seen as a bit of a negative for the Hawks. Why? They won't have a retention slot to move him at the TDL, and if he can't put up numbers on a very good team, he's going to struggle even more on a bad team. The Hawks will have to assume they can't move him and thus simply eating his cap hit as condition of the trade.
