Sometimes a fresh start is all a guy needs - Matt Murray.

Probably.

Fresh start isn’t worth giving up that much imo.

what is in this for LA? Petterson has been awful and he's still a better option than Gibson

Why would a team gambling on someone turning it around with a 'fresh start' be moving high round picks and young players to give them that chance? Reality is Gibson is a negative value contract, probably more so than Petersen with the higher cap hit and longer term.

Gibson is really overrated.

Base deal is fine buy I really don't think he's worth that much. The difference between Peterson and Gibson in the year 2022 is not this large. Ducks getting higher value was a ship that sailed 3 years ago.

I actually like this a lot. If you look at the Anaheim's defensive metrics, it's actually insane how much Gibson is getting left out to dry. Lots of games he'll put on a show for the first period or two and then the team completely gives up once they concede a couple of goals. If the Ducks retained a little salary there's definitely a market for him and this is a decent package.

Turcotte and Petersen could both use fresh starts. Even is Peterson is terrible, somebody needs to get shelled for the next year or two. Throw in an extra 2nd or 3rd to ANA and it's a great deal for both sides.

Biggest issue with this deal (outside of the obvious fact that LA are crosstown rivals, literally less than 40 miles between stadiums) is that Turcotte is the big piece coming back. We have a **** ton on centers already, and not saying Turcotte wouldn't muscle his way into a spot on our roster, but why continue to add at the deepest position on the depth chart.

LA has quite a fine selection of near NHL ready RHD prospects that would be of significantly more interest to the Ducks.

That said, if we are going to ship Gibson somewhere in the Pacific, as a die hard Gibson fan, I hope it's Seattle. They play the system the Ducks used to when GIbby was younger, and I think getting back to a system like that, and having goal support, will turn him back into a monster.
