Operation fix the 3rd line at all cost attempt 2

Created by: JS64
Team: 2022-23 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 16, 2022
Published: Dec. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
So I took in the advice I was given on the last one. I did not think about left and right for Toronto taking Dumillon and I honestly can't see anyone else taking him that would not be on his NTL. Because we I had to hold onto Dumi I could not make Boser work. I know it sucks having over eight million in healthy scratches but there is no way we can get rid of Carter or Dumi and the best version of the pens possible does not include either of them.

There is none, are serious? He has 13 points already is a great penalty killer and only makes 2.75 for 3 years and he'll still be on the right side of 30 when the contracts ends.......... if you want "compensation for taking on McGinn's contract we'll trade him to one of the many teams who would actually give us something for him.

Any black Hawks fan I have talked to says they would want him if it were a throw in which it clearly is. Great guy to either provide some good during a rebuild, (penalty killing is huge in making games not unbearable) or flip to someone next off season.

If you limit Bo Horvat to a 3rd line role you will be very disappointed with the outcome. He’s shown this season that you only get the best out of him by playing him with high end playmakers

A 1st, a cap dump, and scraps doesn’t get Horvat

Fair point, that actually really makes things complicated then because you guys are probably the only team willing to take Kappi without us giving up a first. Obviously he would be C 3 if he was here so he really doesn't make sense.

I'd say just do Brock instead and put Domi at center but then I doubt you guys want to retain salary for Bo where he's not a UFA but we can't make anything work without salary retained.

Thanks for pointing this out

1. your GM is Jim Rutterford so as much as it sucks for you guys Kappi is anything but a cap dump..... he is in love with him. 2 you are getting one of the top goaltending prospects in hockey..... do you want Lindberg instead because Blomqvist is better

I think you're overestimating Horvat's return - look at what Giroux's return was. You're getting a better return here for a worse player.

Giroux was only willing to go to Florida, which lowered his return. Also Horvat is producing more this year than Giroux was last year

1. Our GM is Allvin, not Rutherford. And even then Kapanen would still be a cap dump since we already have too many wingers
2. A goalie prospect as the best prospect coming back for the Canucks makes no sense, it should be a C or RHD

True - your first point is fair.

The second one is meh. I don't think scoring slightly more points for one half season would make him demand a bigger return than Giroux
