Id say Eddy hold a little more value then Puljujarvi but not much, Eddy is going to be a guy multiple teams are going to chase at the TDL so if MTL was smart they would hold on to him till then to get the most back

Puljuajrvi has no value otherwise he'd been dealt already. Habs are holding Eddy for a bidding war. He's going to get a 1st rounder back. Ppl shout and moan but that has always been the going rate for a top4 cheap D with playoff success at a young age.

Puljujarvi cap hit is a problem when he needs to be sheltered and his qualifying offer contract next year @3M for a guy with 2 goals in 2022 is a non starter. He's most likely heading back to Finland or Europe.

This is why Puljujarvi will have little value. Nobody is meeting his qualifying offer with his current performance. Their options are to keep him as an own rental, or replace his cap hit with someone more useful and call that a win.

This trade is basically Edmundson for a 1st and a 6th. Low end return when you consider Kulak went for for a 2nd and a 7th to this same team as a rental.

The perception might be skewed because Puljujarvi is included, but he simply has no value to Montreal unless he thrives with the change-of-scenery and re-signs accordingly. Change it to Foegele and it's practically the same trade as far as value is concerned to Montreal's perspective.

Yeah Matvei Petrov has little upside. Adding a few names really doesnt change the fact its Eddy for a 1st which isnt close to an overpayment in this market. Chiarot got a 1st, 3rd and a prospect. Its delusional to think Eddy's price tag wont come close to a defenceman like Chiarot.

Kulak was a healthy scratch a lot of nights as well in MTL and is stuck on the bottom pairing in Edmonton. I remember ppl here saying Kulak was NOT even getting a 3rd rounder ly which I pitched many times to the Oilers ACGM. Edmundson would immediately be their top shutdown D. Nurse and Bouchard have struggled with those minutes.
