Timo is awesome but the Avs aren’t trading 3 roster players (including Byram) for a rental.

Yeah don't see either of those trades being highly likely.

You’re getting a bit ridiculous here. Byram for meier is not horrible for the sharks. Get real.

Avs emphatically decline + Sharks and Panthers both decline. Also think that without some luck, the Sharks won't be down in Bedard territory. Picking more in the 5-8 range most likely. (But that doesn't mean I won't be crossing my fingers for Bedard or Fantilli lol)

So basically, the Avs before this trade had one hole in their line-up when healthy at 2c that really could use an up grade. Then you take both our current 2nd C and our 3rd C and give us an amazing top six 6 winger. But wait.. we have 4 of them already... Landy, Rants, Nuke, and Lehky. TM is not going to replace the first 3 on that list, but is a step up on number 4, so 62 goes to the 3rd line on wing. So what are we going to do about the three holes you created (2/3Cs and a top 4 Dman in BB)? This makes us WAAYYYY better. Sign me up. That doesn't even start with how are the avs going to sign him next year with that QO? They would have to give up another roster player next year to do it. In the end, losing 4 roster players for a 0.12 % increase in P/pg as a 2nd line W. Not great asset management. The point of the TDL for teams that are contenders is to get BETTER and INCREASE the chance of raising the cup, not sell out their depth.

While I would Argue Timo would be your 2/3rd best winger 3/4 best forward. (and my arguement would fall on the fact he is one of the best in the leauge at creating his own high danger scoring chances and the metrics back this up, meaning playing with the top 6 plus the skilled D you have could mean a jump to 40+ goal production for him especially considering he is on a 40 goal pace for the much weaker offensivly sharks) i would still agree with your assessment that this doesn’t fit a need on your team and while the sharks could use a guy like Byram I would hope the return for him would be more like a 23 1st and a potential top 4 D or top 6 F under 22. the two adds do nothing but move cap and don’t help sharks long term.
Just feel like there is a chance we could get more from him or sharks should push to sign him long term as players like Meier are hard to come by. and while i like the potential of Lundell Bobby is a tough contract to take on when we are giving up a Norris caliber D for him. plus the sharks a Deep at LW/ LHS forwards and are more in need of a top R RW/RHS.
