I don't think Bertuzzi will end up with the Leafs because of the covid issues with him. It's something GMs still have to be aware of and the world seems to be expecting a spike over the next few months.

But it's entirely possible it will show up again, especially in Canada. There's a decent chance Bertuzzi won't be allowed to play games in Canada (even if its 3-4%) at some point and this will be a zero sum trade for the Leafs to make. It's an added layer of risk with Bertuzzi which makes him unlikely to be the one the Leafs move a large number of assets for.

Bertuzzi is so overrated and we can do better than an often injured conspiracy theorist

Wow he does not want to get the covid shot and now he is a conspiracy theorist.

Do you know his medical history, do you know why he does not want to get the shot. It is a person's right in the states to do or not to do, but I guess you know better.

This site is going down hill with some of the ignorant posters.

A medical exemption is absolutely fine and no one would ever have a problem for someone not being able to get a shot because of health reasons. He didn't have a medical exemption. He believed bogus nonsense about the vaccine and didn't get it. Leaving his teammates short handed when they had to play in Canada. Its selfish.

Nylander took a while to get his but that was due to an actual medical concern that was worked out and he got his vaccine. Also the US had more covid deaths than any other country. Way to go. You guys did the best in the world and letting people die needlessly because of misinformation. Congrats

The whole Covid ordeal is total BS, Right now it's only a delta variant. basically only a common cold. Covid is nothing like it was at the beginning of it's inception.

That's how a lot of people see it. That number is significantly lower in Canada so Dubas would need to be aware of the politics around the issue here. People in Canada were generally very favorable of the way Trudeau handled covid. If the numbers were to spike up to 2-3x as much over the course of a few months, theres a good chance the political pressure would be there for Canadian governments to lock down again. This would effect the Leafs and who is able to play in Toronto. What covid is or isn't doesn't matter, it's how its perceived and that's very different from country to country.

Detroit 100% declines, We already traded Jarnmark because he didn't want to play in Detroit. And the rest of the package is pure trash. And if you can't offer us the 2023 1st round pick. Then don't even ask about Bertuzzi because it's not happening. Reportedly there are still 7 to 8 teams that have a strong interest in him not just Toronto. So Yzerman will get his asking price or we keep him and resign him.

Dude shut up with ur liberal nonsense we get it youre a puppet who cant think for themselves. 1st ur spreading lies about Kane’s trial now ur spouting leftist nonsense about Bertuzzi. Crazy how y’all are all about “my body my choice choice” and respecting peoples choices until it doesnt fall in line with your beliefs. Do you consider players selfish for skipping games for any other personal issues too? If someone isn’t comfortable getting a vaccine they shouldnt have to get it. Especially when theyre in a group of people that’s basically at no risk of COVID doing anything to them.

You guys need to learn how to comment about players on here without getting personal about players health choices. Grow up and have some respect.

With that being said, Detroit Declines.

I just find it funny, That Canadian teams have to face Bertuzzi in Detroit with no problem. Yet he can't go play 2 games in Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and one apiece in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. Towards the end of last season. More players in Canada were out with Covid than here in the States. With a vast majority of it in Vancouver.

Yep, it doesn't make any sense but it still is what it is and Canadian teams would need to be aware of that.

Thats the thing with the government lol. They just do stuff to please people and avoid hurting peoples feelings. Theres hardly any logic backing what they do. You can sit inside a restaurant without a mask but cant walk inside without one 😂. Or Kyrie Irving can sit in an arena and watch but he cant play lol.
