Parayko is not worth that contract and sure as hell not worth that trade value. You give up this type of package for a true #1 defenceman with term. Parayko has the term but far back from the quality of play

1- the leafs have no need for parayko
2-his contract is awful
3-he isnt near good enough any more to justify the cost let alone that terrible contract

I would argue with #1, the leafs definitely need a big physical RHD, maybe more than anything

they most certainly do not. A defenceman is one of the last things the leafs need, like not even close to the top. Their defence is great and has been for years all of their problems have been depth scoring and goaltending related.
A big top pairing defender would be nice, but it is far far far from a need and parayko is 100% not that guy

Do you even WATCH the Leafs?!?!?! When a team's best all around D man is a 38 year old (Giordano) that is NOT GOOD!!!

I agree Parayko is NOT the answer, primarily due to his contract, however, to suggest the Leafs D does not need bolstering in order to compete and win in the playoffs is just silly!

Brodie should be a 2nd pairing RD at this stage of his career and Liljegren a 3rd pairing RD - he is not ready yet - in 2 yrs when Brodie's contract is done, then he should be able to step in to RD2 minutes and responsibilities (fingers crossed).

He isn't a big #1 defenceman. He was really good before Pietrangelo left St Louis and now he can't handle the top defensive minutes

Brodie is rounding back into form but is definitely a top pair defenceman who is great defensively. Rielly will be back and is the best defenceman on the team. Holl, Liljegren and Timmins are all good. We don't need Parayko at all.

Lol, bro if that's your take on the leafs then you playing the "do you watch?" Card is hilarious. The leafs have been a top defensive and pk team for several years now, they were one with almost their entire top 4 hurt this season.
Pretending otherwise isnt just silly, it's a whole comedy series. Anyone who thinks otherwise has been brainwashes by kypreos and what ever cte case is on the intermission pannel between games.
A hilariously out dated and lazy take

do YOU watch the leafs? Terrible assessments of Brodie and Liljegren, who has been a 2-way rock that has shown to be trustable in any situation. Fingers crossed? He's ready for RD2 minutes today, arguably good enough for the top pair. He's been playing well over 20 mins a night since Rielly went down and has been exceptional.

Leafs have no interest in Parayko and his never ending contract. Maybe it's just not him, but his metrics shows he's declining in the first year of his eight year contract.

Would much prefer we target an impact top 6/9 forward - either 2W or 3C.
Kampf is solid and Holmberg has impressed so maybe we try to get someone to play with JT & Marner?
But agree with most here that the D is fine; Gio has played well (which is great news) but it’s hard to say who’s been the best. All 6 have played well, and with Reilly still to come back…d-corps is fine
