There is nothing in that package that would persuade Calgary to give up a second-round draft pick, let alone an A prospect like Jakob Pelletier. (Let's ignore the embarrassing inclusion of Jonathan Huberdeau.) The Flames don't need a #2C/#3C and as for two aging, hideously overpaid, underperforming and overpriced wings . . .

The Edmonton idea is almost as bad. But it's not the worst trade involving a team that I've seen on CapFriendly, which the Calgary trade IS.

Yeah and be stuck with Gallagher for 5 years, Hoffman for 2 and Monahan for 1, all for the combined cap hit of roughly 17.5 million.

Monahan ends this year and Hoffman only has one more year.

Gallagher's contract sucks but it won't eat up as much cap as Huberdeau's will, Gallaghers is half the length too.

Yeah ok, but to what end? To be a worse team in the years to come, and sell of a part of the future aswell. I mean it isn't a rebuild move or a retool move either, it's pretty much just a bad move imo. Doesn't make any sense to me.
