Stockpile and figure out plan for future- hope for contention in 2-3 years

2023 NHL Draft

STL 1st- Will Smith

Have 3 new solid defensive prosepects after the trades and drafts plus a really solid center prospect in will smith. Already have quite a few good young wingers so went with another center and a goalie to deepen the overall pool.

This team will be worse than this years team because the defense still sucks. Hopefully some of those prospect can develop nicely and gavrikov and fill a top 4 role well. Still have leddy which I hate but after burning another year he may be movable. Moved krug cause I think we’ve gotten enough out of him. Not a bad player but the contract is to much for what we have locked into sub par defenseman already. Think this would be a good first off-season after selling at the TDL
