Seems like a lot to give for a kid that really hasn't done ****. I mean it hurts Montreal a bit, which helps Buffalo.

yeah maybe, but that is probably what it will take if they going to offer sheet him.

Not a top 14 pick plus a cap dump, which MTL fanbase seems to think. NYR is not in the business of helping MTL out. Especially when you think who sits there now.

That would be a nice draft table to be sitting at for NY in the 2023 draft. Nice Capital there the first 3 rnds

Until the culture of developing players change in NYR - I'm not holding my breath. But the MTL one should be top 10 center pick at least.

LMAO, Montreal will keep our picks and you can keep Laffy, hopefully he breaks out next year for you but that seems to be the same song as the Leafs saying "this is our year" then not making it out of the first round.

Obviously I agree with you. Right now what we hope for is a Tage Thompson type of a turn around, or a Cole Caufield. Either way, some serious top 6 min is required for all prospects to develop.
Not just 5 game here, 10 games year after, and 7 games year after that. top line PP min as well.

That is far too much for Lafrienere. He has not shown anything close to his draft status.

NYR has really struggled to develop their picks. Imagine where they would be if Lafreniere, Kakko, Kravtsov, Lias Andersson were anything close to their projections. Thats a 1st OA, 2nd OA, 9th OA and 7th OA in 4 consecutive drafts!

I agree! but why should NYR cut ties with their picks and accept back less than projected value before they breakout when they don't need to?
That also makes no sense. As for Lias he jumped a lot of picks when NYR drafted him at 7th.

Yea, you aren't going to get anywhere near the offer to make it worth trading him, better off seeing it through.

Think you are missing the point of the post, which is why would NYR trade him for less...

So just don't make trades involving him. Goes for the under sells and over sells

ahahaha is this a joke?? In what world A. is Lafreiniere worth $7.225 million for 7 years and B. will a team ever give 2 1sts and 2 2nds. He's a bust there is no other way around it he's worth maybe $3 million a year and maybe worth one 2nd round pick

Thats no incredibly overpriced its crazy. Unless the Rangers plan on playing a a guy currently on their 4th line 8.4 million, they are getting multiple 1st rounders. Dach was acquired for a 14th and 66th pick. And that was from the Hawks. A team that had 0 reason to deal him. The Rangers have multiple reasons to trade Laffy. Cap saving, asset management and just getting better players for a bottom 6 role

The only realistic pick in that trade is the 2024 1st and it's still very unlikely they'll trade it, thinking you're getting a top 6 pick in this draft for laff is laughable, you'll probably get around the 7th to 10th pick for him plus a mid round pick possibly, dach costed 13th and 66th... DeBrincat got the 7th....

This is pure fantasy based on recent NHL trades for young players

To avoid paying him for that "untapped potential", which made them selecting him at 1st OA.

Lafreniere isn’t worth a Caufield type offer sheet. Any team offer sheeting him will be for a one year deal worth just enough to squeeze New York cap wise. Likely around 6mil. In a trade Lafreniere is slightly worth more than Dach. A top 15 pick plus a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Maybe an AHL prospect to boot.

Laffy can turn it around. But they need a Martin St Louis kind of a coach. Last year at this time Caufield had what... one goal?
I agree with what you are saying, right now. But Laffy van still do like a Tage Thompson type of a turn around.

I know this thread about Alexis, but I think they will trade Kakko before him (and in my opinion he have more potential to turn it apound like Tage than Alexis).
