Larkin signs that in Detroit not Columbus, Larkin would be looking at 7 x $10,500,000 to sign with the Blue Jackets. Horvat more as well probably closer to $9,000,000 per AAV.

If the jackets get fantilli in this scenario they only need to sign one of these centers. With the way Kent Johnson has looked him or sillinger takes one of the top 2 center spots. Voronkov will take a 3/4C spot. I am very underwhelmed at the returns for laine and boqvist. I would want much more than that or just keep them. Laine is worth multiple firsts and boqvist can probably get a late first if he plays decent the rest of the season

I don't disagree. And Gaudreau turned down even better money to sign in Columbus, closer to his home on the East Coast.
Philly or NJ certainly would have been his 1st choice had they had the cap space.

This is just a hypothetical to see if it was remotely possible to squeeze them in.
I'm sure they (Horvat & Larkin) are both happy in the cities they are currently playing in.

Even luring 1 top name center UFA would help the Jackets, especially given the fact they will unfortunately be drafting very high again this year.

I’m amazed that this team is cap compliant. Surprised you want to ship out Laine and Boqvist tho

You do realize that only McDavid has more goals than Horvat.

I’d imagine Horvat would want more money than Larkin given his current season.

You must have already forgotten that Johnny Gaudreau took less to come to Columbus.

Agreed. I wouldn't mind Larkin if it's a reasonable price, and I like Horvat, but he is the same player as Jenner, who we have on a team friendly deal. I'm not sure he makes sense for us.

Laine is great to have when he's actually playing, but man that guy misses a lot of time. Hopefully he's just taking it easy since the team is bad, and he can put a couple full seasons together moving forward.

Boqvist is flashy but unreliable. Slight, oft injured, and doesn't play physical or aggressive defense. Jackets are probably going to have to sell low on him in the summer unless he has a resurgence in the second half of the season.

So Larkin isn't Gaudreau, And he's not signing no cheap deal in Columbus. besides Columbus isn't anywhere close to making a full playoff run. Detroit has far better players than Columbus coming up. So Larkin isn't leaving hometown Detroit for the likes of Columbus.

Bjork & Blankenburg have definitely climbed above Boqvist on the depth chart. Also, having Peeke & Guds makes Boqvist almost expendable (if they can stay healthy).

If he would sign that in Detroit, then it would probably be a little less in Columbus. Maybe 8.7m x 7.

There's no way Larkin would take less in Columbus than home town Detroit. Larkin takes 8 x $9,500,000 in Detroit and 7 x $10,500,000 in Columbus that's basically what he's looking at.

I wouldn't be so sure. That's what everyone said about Gaudreau too.

So Larkin isn't Gaudreau he's seeking a heck of a lot more money than Gaudreau. Pretty sure if Larkin were willing to sign for $8,700,000 he'd already be re-signed by now. There's absolutely no way he accepts less than what Zach Werenski is making.
