At minimum what he cost to acquire + a 9M+ contract. In other words out of our price range in multiple aspects

Calgary could probably get a deal done with the assets they have but I don’t think they could afford him.

I’m curious which team u cheer for. Ottawa doesn’t suck, they just need a Dman , being healthy and a better coach

The bare minimum in value that is needed would be what Ottawa spent to acquire DeBrincat in the first place.

https://www.capfriendly.com/trades/players/alex-debrincat

Also, your proposed trade for DeBrincat is illegal.

If the 1st for 2024 is #20 or lower, it might belong to the Montreal Canadiens instead.

As part of the Sean Monahan trade.

Ottawa declines.

Try again.

If they were to spend that , Meier would be a great option tbh. San Jose likely wants futures which you have and can take cap back. It would likely mean Zadorov becomes a cap casualty as well as including Mangiapane in the trade but the good thing is you have Pelletier, Zary and Coronato that can fill in the lineup at an ELC. Maybe even have Wolf backup and save 2 mill on vladar .

Point per game forwards don’t grow on trees. Cat is dominating at every aspect of the game , has been great defensively for us, playmaking and now scoring in a bunch. I’d rather sign him longterm and figure out the rest. There’s no way they should let him walk or trade him unless he doesn’t wanna stay.

Rantanen?

Rantanen takes a ton of FO and is even better than Cat defensively, who is fairly responsible himself but CO also had one of the best centers in the world on a Chychrun contract

it's almost as if a 128 point winger drives his own offensive unlike Cat who has had really bad years without deep teams around him

Last year I argued that Mangiapane was at least on par with Fiala when someone said Calgary would have to add significantly. And statistically I was correct, over the last 2 years Mangiapane has been the more effective player overall. I consider Meier to be a similar caliber player to Fiala. Now even though Mange has had a relatively slow start to the year i would not consider adding a significant prospect to him to add Meier right before his big raise when Calgary has 2 big extensions lined up for next year. While either of those players would be good adds they just aren't reasonable adds. Someone like Konecny or a rental like Tarasenko is a much more realistic addition

You are really reaching with your argument. Just accept that you were wrong and move on. Remember the cap will be going up from here on out too. Kessel's cap hit wasn't that far off the same % when Pittsburgh won

Honestly if the cap is 95 mill in 4 years, 8-9 mill will be cheap for a point per game player

Not really interested in the proposal, don't want futures.

If I trade cat, I need a young top-9 forward and a good RD. Something like Formenton (prior to the TC thing) + Zub

I would have done something like Ruzicka + Kylington if Kylington was not MIA

Obvious troll is obvious

YearS? He had one rough season in 19-20 and that's it

Just more non-sense from you

I def would not move him for Kylington + Ruzicka personally

I know it's a small sample size but Ruzicka looks impressive right now, does a lot with low minutes and has great possession numbers

Like I said not interested in Kylington right now but if he just kept playing and like last season, would have been a great add too. 2 guys on cheap contracts who will continue to improve

Anyway, it was more an example for the kind of return I would be looking for IF we were trading DeBrincat

WOOOOW another team with a world class center on an awesome contract, who would have thought that's a cup winning formula?? awesome face sarcasm tears of joy

imagine being a top line winger with Kane and not scoring more than 78 points but demanding and "worth" 9M

>If I trade cat, I need a young top-9 forward and a good RD

tears of joy lolol you mean exactly like what the Hawks traded to OTT which turned out to be the peak of Cat's value since OTT isn't in a position to succeed?

You're argument is strictly about the cost of the winger. The center is irrelevant to that.

oh wow is that how you build a team? irrelevant of other needs, positions, and value? then ya, OTT should offer 8x9 and watch the next 8 years of mediocre hockey pass by
