I don't think the Canucks take that deal. Kuzy has been amazing for us so far and has a really strong chemistry with Petey. I really dont know tho because he is a free agent this season and he could be traded at the deadline along with Horvat or something, but i dont see a 1-for-1 deal really making much sense for the Canucks

But imagine what Kuzy would do on a line with Kuzy...

Hendrix Lapierre & Vincent Iorio at the very least for Kuzmenko

I love Kuzmenko but I'm not paying McMichael for him. Just wait in the offseason and sign him as a UFA.

I could see one or the other in a 1-for-1 but this is an insane ask. Go look at how many players in NHL have played a full 82 game season shooting better than 24% and tell me if you think Kuzmenko keeps this production up for the rest of the year & the playoffs. Dude is definitely a legit NHLer, but regression is looming big time.

yea I lean that way too but i feel like he is the perfect guy in terms of no cap hit, ufa next year, playing really well, and no track record so wouldn't cost too too much.

as for giving up mcmichael I still think he can have a good career in DC, but I'm taking a 23 1st over him tbh and you have to give something of value

Wouldn't cost too much? If Kuzmenko is made available, he is going to be very expensive to acquire. His extremely low cap hit would make him one of the most valuable players on the market as cap space wouldn't be an issue for any contender

You've obviously haven't seen him play... Capitals have enough problems trying to make Cap space for Backstrom return let alone getting a high talent player at pennies without giving up some high-end prospects

The Caps have publicly said multiple times they won't have an issue with the cap when Backstrom and Wilson return. Even less issue now with Carlson on LTIR

The capitals do not have a cap space problem when Backstrom comes back. In the worst case scenario, we lose someone to waivers because we send down someone who’s making just a little bit too much money. The caps can ice a 23 man roster under the cap with backstrom back, and now it’s even easier with Carlson out long term.

This is also a complete pipe dream, not even close to reality.

McMichael is a high end center prospect that is NHL ready next year, something the Canucks have repeatedly made it clear they are looking for. Kuzmenko won't cost too much compared to other high-impact players available like Horvat, Chychrun, Meier, Tarasenko. Its fine to say that he could get more than just McMichael -- and the caps have plenty of those second tier guys that could be useful to Vancouver like Johansen, Alexeyev, Snively, Johnson -- but I don't think there would be another high-end piece going to Vancouver in any Kuzmenko deal

I have seen him play, I love him, but no way in hell are you getting a top 6 playmaking center and a top 4 defensive defensemen for him.

McMichael is not a top 6 forward, and Iorio is not a top 4 defenseman.

O I guess they changed the trade. Originally it was Lapierre+Iorio for Kuznmenko. But McMichael is a top 6 center, just need a coach who will actually play him there. Iorio is looking like a top 4 D but we'll see.

McMichael is in the AHL and Iorio is also in the AHL. Neither have made any sort of NHL impact. Sure they have promise, but neither are considered top prospects. McMichael has regressed in terms of value. Iorio has always been nothing more than a B prospect.

That's on the coach. McMichael was the best possession impact forward the Caps had last season. The fact he didn't get a top 6 spot this season is more on Laviolette hating young players. He'll be a 60 point 2 way center in the NHL. Iorio looks really good. Never going to be a offensive freak but will be a really strong top 4 defensive guy.

It's wild to me that Iorio is not receiving more attention for having a really solid tape so far in Hershey and Brandon. You'd think for all the fawning over random mediocre prospects in different cities, a guy with great defensive play and a sneaky good offensive mind could receive at least a shred of credibility. Hopefully we'll get to see him, at least in a limited 9 game role, next year.
