your going to get roasted buddy!
1st deal Walsh would be far more logical than mukh. even the NJD fans say no.
Seattle might be interested in Reimer but not Nieto and Bonino and not for that price.
Nieto at best might get us a 4th Bonino a 5th
Reimer a 3rd at best he isn’t having a good year.
no one wants nutivaara, you couldn’t give him away for free

Fitz only was blocks of granite for D. Merkley makes no sense for us. The rest we can continue to argue about! 😆

Take out Muk and Merk, then add extension for Meier. Without knowing that piece, its impossible to tell what trade returns fit.

Returns would scale to contract....for example:

3 years x $6.5 million = Zetterlund, 1st
7 years x $7.0 million = Holtz, 1st, 2nd
7 years x $7.5 million = Holtz, 1st
7 years x $8.0 million = Foote, 1st, 3rd
7 years x $8.5 million = Foote, 1st, 4th
7 years x $9.0 million = Foote, 2nd, 3rd
7 years x $9.5 million = Stillman, 3rd
1 year x $10.0 million = 2nd, 3rd

I don’t think Merkley is the option of you want to increase the value coming back, if it’s from NJ.
They have practically an over abundance of d prospects already, there’s just not much sense in moving Mook to bring in Merkley. Mook also tips the value a bit over the top. Maybe a guy like Walsh instead would make sense, but I’m still just not thinking Merkley is a fit regardless

I think it’s absolutely wild that you think a 26 yo with an extension who could score 40 goals this year is possibly worth a maybe B prospect and a 3rd. I mean that’s just ridiculous.

Maybe not those exact prices, but the same rule applies that trade price will be heavily impacted by contract.

If Meier wants $9.5 million, I would be looking elsewhere.

I’m sorry but rentals last year got twice that if not more at the deadline. And if you think Meier is signing for $6.5 mil it would cost a ton more, but that will never happen

I don’t think he signs for $6.5m. I used Reinhart as a comp if he wanted to go short-term to get to UFA in few years. Was trying to layout a range of options.

It doesn’t sound like he will be moved before deadline with extension anyway. Am guessing it will look a lot like Fiala last summer…in both trade price and extension. From the Devils, that would probably be something like Mukhamadullin and 1st. And 7x$8m extension.

Yeah I don’t see him making any less than $8 mil aav no matter where he gets moved to. If he stays will San Jose I’m expecting more like $8.5 mil aav because they always overpay their pending FAs
