Kings say no thank you unless there is a minimum of 1m retention on the deal.

I was thinking that they might need some cap relief. I could see an extra 1m of retention being added if I upgraded the 4th to a 3rd, or something like that

That is quite a bit to give up for Granlund, and without getting any retention, Canes will pass.

I’d do 2.5m retention at the same package. I’m not great with CAR’s prospects, but I’ve seen stuff like this proposed in the past, so kind of creating my own adaptation of that

The Blues obviously pass without a thought. And anyway, in what world does Duchene offer more scoring than Tarasenko?

Yeah that's an easy no from the blues. We can slide Schenn into the 2C role. Don't want Duch and his 6.5 million cap hit. Especially not for our first which could be top 10

I mean Duchene is putting up almost identical numbers to Tarasenko in a worse offense, plus you’re saving money. I should take out the 2nd probably, so would that do it

Duchene plays RW, but anyways I think the 1st could even be 2024. Solves both issues there

Again the blues don't want Duchene. We are rebuilding/retooling. We don't need to get older or wastes assets on players we don't need

The contingent on this trade would of course be that they don’t retool, and they follow the Preds model (never rebuild, no letter what)

Well we we aren't doing that so no point in the trade. Plus I don't think the blues would target Duchene. They don't trade for players with huge contracts.

Didn’t realize the contract thing. Just looked back at the Blues trade history and you’re totally right

Seems to me like there’s too many moving pieces in the trade with Buffalo
I think something along the lines of Fabbro for Mittelstadt would be closer to what could possibly happen in the real world
