I see no reason for NYR to move him at all. No need for Dach either. Only idea I would consider moving Laf at all is for MTL and FLA 1sts. As for value, I’d say it’s moot as the trade will never happen

Zibby and Troch are locked in long term. Chytil making strides. Dach at 4C? Or put him at the same position that Laf is already playing? Laf is actually better so why downgrade. In the next year or 2 Laf will move up to PP1 and all the “bust” comments will disappear when he is putting up 90+ point seasons. That being said, Dach is solid and MTL should keep him for a 2C

I wouldn't if I was the GM of the Habs. Dach can play center which is a more valuable position, and he is producing more than Lafreniere

Only reason for either team (beyond ooo French), is that Dach has cost certainty for the next few years while Laf will likely be looking at a short term bridge.
If both players break out next year, Dach will provide value while Laf will be demanding a huge contract and possibly another short term one.
Dach has the potential to be a better deal in the short term, while Laf will likely be getting paid close to what he is actually worth.
Both players at a point per game for 4 years, Dach will be at least $5M cheaper.

Again. Laf is going to be much better long term. No concerns or interest in moving him for a player of the same age. The 2 picks on the other hand I would. It gives NYR a shot a bedard, but also 2 ELC guys for the next few years.
