Description

Jarry grew up in Surrey BC. 30 minutes from Vancouver BC. Im sure he would love to sign his long term deal with Vancouver and probably less than 5M per.

Vancouver gets rid of Boeser contract and can use the savings to try and keep Horvat.

I personally would rather Kuzmenko than Boeser. He’s cheaper this season, probably signs a long term deal with the Pens cheaper than 6.65M per. Geno would finally get another Russian on the team and as his linemate.

Kuzmenko might cost more than Boeser though. He’s gonna have other bidders and Pens would be buying low on Boeser. Plus Vancouver needs to shed salary if they want any chance of signing Horvat long term. And Miller ain’t going anywhere so Boeser is really their only option.

Vancouver also gets their young RHD in Ty Smith. Plus Friedman just turned 27, signed cheaply(775K), is a RH shot and plays RHD/LHD equally well. Plus a 2nd round pick in an historically deep draft. And everyone knows GM JR is a Kappy fan.

How I see the Canucks trade is…

Kapanen, Friedman, 2nd for Boeser, and Schenn.
Not the return I’d hope for in a Boeser trade, even though he’s not living up to expectations, but I am a big Kappy fan, so I’ll take it, plus we get the money off the books.

That leaves Demko for Jarry (a UFA) and Smith. That is waaay off value wise, even with Demko having a down season, and being injured. I guess an extension for Jarry could be agreed upon, but it’s still a ways off.

All in all, I don’t think it’s terrible, but I’d still expect a 1st + to be added on the Pittsburg side before Rutherford/Allvin would even consider it.

Not the worst offer to the Canucks despite what others have said. I don't know that that does anything for the Canucks though, Add a 1st and I think you are there though.

Pens don't need a 6mill 3rd line RW, nor do they need a 3rd pair RD, they have Rutta. Losing Ty Smith at this point makes the Marino trade look even worse, just don't like any of that deal.
