Maybe Canucks take Mantha back as well, apparently scratched and UFA in 24

Retain 25% and WSH might consider. No one is taking him at a full cap hit for 7 more years unfortunately (for VAN)

Rather Washington keep Mantha....Van is getting rid of a perceived malcontent...no need to bring back a confirmed malcontent. Van would rather just have the prospects, pick and the cap space.

Wsh isn’t giving up three 1st Rd picks PLUS for JT Miller at his current age and contract. What a horrible proposal. Wsh couldn’t do this for the Salary Cap alone. Not to mention JT Miller isn’t worth anywhere near that much at almost 30 years old. This is downright horrible for the Caps.

Good news, Vancouver doesn't receive any in that hypothetical.

This is god-awful for Washington. Miller is a defensive nightmare, something Washington can't afford to acquire, has a far too high cap hit, Washington already has too many centers, and it's overall far too much to pay 3 first round picks/prospects and an amazing depth piece for a center coming down from a career high year with a possible attitude problem and defensive liability.

Also since it's been discussed in the thread, adding Mantha is even worse for Washington since he's been a quality piece on pace for around 20 goals and 30 assists despite playing 3rd line minutes with an offensive anchor as his center most of the time and bouncing around the lineup almost every game. Adding him to a trade just because Laviolette refuses to scratch Eller would be asinine.
