The Blues almost certainly will have no interest in Villenueve because of his skating.

Not a dealbreaker, pick another prospect not named Knies and let it rip

Well, there's the rub. Setting Knies aside, there really isn't anyone tempting, with the possible exception of Minten. And delaying the 2nd until '24 means that companion piece needs to be bumped up. Of course, Toronto does not have a '23 2nd to offer. I'm not sure it's going to work, because several other teams can offer more suitable pieces. Honestly, Army should have dealt Barby for Sandin prior to the season, and not re-signed Leddy. I kinda suspect the time for a simple Barby-to-TOR may have passed. Perhaps if something goes package-y. I had a suggestion in an AGM yesterday.

It really would've been a slick move to get Sandin for Barby when he didn't have a contract and Barby was coming off 60 pts. C'est la vie

problem is you have no other good prospects. I'd believe other teams offer far better picks or prospects that aren't as late as your second. I'm most likely thinking 2nd and Knies is what they would ask for since you don't have a surplus of prospects. Unless you're willing to offer up Bunting Sandin or Robertson which is a different conversation completely from a 2nd round pick. I don't see Toronto working in the market for Barby.

I was screaming for it. Think I even had it on an AGM.

I doubt the Blues still have much interest in Robertson. Dude's made of paper and doesn;t skate well enough to avoid damage.

Yeah, but we've seen Blues develop some skaters. Skating can be learned. I also think Berube is someone to improve most of his areas of play.

Skating can be coached up when you're 18,19,20. Not so much when you're 22. And Chief can't do anything to fix his brittle bones. He's a small guy who plays a big guy style, and has already had 2-3 major injuries. A year ago, yeah, they probably rated him some. Now... ehhh.

Needs more picks and prospects going to SJ, and probably Knies because they have no use for Rielly or Kerfoot in a ditch everything rebuild scenario
