we'd ideally like to retain a bit less on Rico, probably to have his AAV come in between 3.5 and 4, not sure what the cap for this roster would look like, I know Bratt is going to need a payday, Siegenthaler and Graves need to be resigned and Severson/Tatar need to be decided upon.

Seriously consider? Anaheim would take this in the blink of an eye. U wouldn’t get a piece like Mukhamadulin alone for Henrique. Foote and a 2nd is fair

Any bid to pry Rico out of Anaheim with retention is going to take what you consider an overpay because you've frankly got zero leverage. We like him, we're happy with his play, he is providing leadership to the team and is one of our top points producers, our top faceoff guy, etc.

So yeah, convince us to move him with retention this season, we're not at risk of loosing anything if we don't, as he's not a pending UFA. Also this...
