I'm torn when it comes to Murphy. Not sure he's worth this to upgrade-- but the contract value probably suggests he is.

Sure but that pile of nothings does not get you a retained 40 goal power forward. Be real.

Remind me of what Stone got in his trade?

Robertson is grade A prospect plus a 1st, a b prospect and 3rd for a rental is a fair deal

He is an upgrade over Holl. Holl is a great defender off the rush and in the neutral zone. Murphy does the same but also boxes out in front of the net and lays the body. Think of Muzz pre injury minus the offence

Two guys, Murphy and Meier that the Leafs can't afford new season. What is it about so many that don't understand "the cap"

Contract value? Holl makes less than half and is as good or better than Murphy. Chicago giving 4 or more to bottom pairing defenceman doesn't mean they are worth it. The team has been poorly managed for a long time. Murphy just isn't that good. I would rather have Timmins and Liljegren in over him and we also have Brodie. We don't need Murphy at all

I would say Meier wouldn't be a bad add, and yeah we would not keep him but sending him in a sign and trade certainly could benefit us.

I think Murphy is a good add but other than cap, why trade Holl? Other than the Hawks miraculous and extreme improbable run in '15 playoffs when they only basically used 4 defenseman, teams just don't win without that depth 7-8 deep. Trading Holl for Murphy doesn't help that depth.

We don’t know next season cap hit. They said it will go up 1 million but increased revenue from the playoffs can increase it more.

Furthermore if we don’t make the progress in the playoffs change would be inevitable.

Watch Murphys game. Holl is good but Murphy plays similar to pre injury muzz minus the offence. He’s worth it and we get 3 extra years in comparison to find a replacement in the off-season

Dalhstrom will come off LTIR by then. We would shed about 9 NHL calibre dman with Rielly, Murphy, Sandin, Brodie, Giordano, Liljegren, Timmins, Benn and Dahlstrom.

6 of those dman are legit top 4 options.

Then why does Chicago get caved in when he's on the ice? They never posses it and they get scored on more than they score. He's not that good, never has been, he's been less bad on a bottom 5 team.

You don’t watch his game. Murphy and McCabe are the only dman on the Blackhawks that’s defensively great just on a team openly trying to tank. Also his numbers are super inflated due to Mrazek poor performance.

I watched Dahlstrom in Chicago, shouldn't count him as depth for Cup contender. If he's playing, things are bleak.

…Murphy is great and has been great since his days in Airzona. Idk which analytics you’re using but raw stats don’t tell the full story.

Never does eh? He's great it's everyone else's fault he gets scored on, never posseses the puck and gives up way more chances against than he produces. Way better than Holl who's the opposite eh? I would upgrade Holl if I can but Murphy isn't an upgrade

Are using plus minus as an argument here…

Again on a tanking team you’ll provide more opportunities against than for.

If he was any good they wouldn't be so bad. If he made 2 million, then yeah he might offer enough to be a good 3rd pair guy who kills penalties but at 4.4 million he's just not worth pursuing

I am familiar, he's big and stands in front of his net. He doesn't offer much of anything else. Some people still think those old school stay at home guys are good but in most cases they are not.

Robertson drops to a B when you factor in injuries

He stays healthy about as long as Chicago was in a playoff spot this season
