Terrible salary cap management

It's because Debrusk and Nosek are activated off LTIR. They'd have enough daily cap savings to cover this easily.

So lemme get this straight - Boston sends out their young shutdown RHD with term for an older, worse pending UFA in Schenn, and adds in 4 of their better prospects, plus a 1st and a 3rd, so they can acquire a rental that upgrades....3C?

That seems like a real waste of your assets - it basically strips your current pipeline bare (it's Lysell and a bunch of question marks once you take Merkulov, Lohrei, Harrison, and even Beecher out of there) and keeps you from picking until the 4th round this year. All for a bottom-6 upgrade.

Lohrei joins the Bruins. You must be related to Beecher and Harrison to think they're of real value.

Are you familiar with the Bruins? Horvat would be extended. Now you've guaranteed you have two top centers once Bergeron and Krejci retire. Lohrei stays and if you think Horvat centering Hall and Coyle is actually a third line then I can't help you. Get outside and get some fresh air.

Where are you getting the cap to extend Horvat & Pasta? I mean hell, you had to put Craig Smith on LTIR just to make this cap-compliant, so maybe you just think that kinda stuff doesn't matter.

The Bruins have just under $22M in cap space this coming summer. Even if Pasta re-signs at $10M and Horvat at $8M, you'll have about $4M in cap space to fill out basically your entire bottom-6 and extend Jeremy Swayman.

The Bruins have to do an unbelievable amount of movement with their roster next year to afford Horvat and Pasta. It's not going to happen

The trade is just bad for the Bruins. They is zero chance they move Carlo midseason

You aren't apparantly.

You re-sign Pasta, Bo, Sway, Frederic, add the bonus overages, fill out the remaining roster cheaply, you are still over 90m.

Lohrei does not replace Carlo, they play opposite sides and opposite type of games.

Bo would play 3rd center this year, he is not bumping Bergy out of #1 or breaking up the chemistry of 2nd line, would be asinine.

Not sure who you think the other top 6 center is if 37 and 46 retire. Zacha? Maybe.

Not sure you even know who Horvat is. He is a guy who has consistently put up 55 points a year. You think that is #1 production? He is having a career year shooting 10% above his career norm. When he regresses to the norm, and he will, he goes back to being that 55-60 point guy. He does not create especially well, certainly not for a #1, he is an average skater who does not separate from defenders. And despite people saying how great he is defensively, his metrics don’t prove it.

This team is far better off filling some needs, Right shot FWD that plays a heavy game and a physical d man. Convince 37 to return for another year. Fix long term center later when the dust settles.

This trade sucks.

By the time you factor in what they’d have to actually trade, this isn’t it, and then the players they would have to move out next year to create the cap space for him you have done more harm than good. And you are also making them very exposed to an offer sheet on Swayman.

It’s just a poorly thought out, XBox move, without understanding the ramifications.

Harrison is tied for 16th in the OHL for P/GP and is tied for 12th in goals scored. Kids on pace for 41G/41A in 62GP. A 6'2 center with size that can score is going to have value.
