Patty Kane fit

Created by: Lets_Go_Bruins2024
Team: 2022-23 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 31, 2023
Published: Jan. 31, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I want to improve at the deadline but to be honest a Kane trade seems counterproductive when I look at it. You'd have to trade away significant future pieces in Lohrei and that 1st rounder, as well as putting yourself right against the cap. Is Kane really that much better than Frederic or DeBrusk on the 3rd line? The team would be absolutely stacked, but is it enough to be worth the cost?

CHI declines and BOS should be conserving assets, anyway. BOS has the most complete team in the league by an almost insurmountable margin and Kane does nothing but probably upset their chemistry.

I mean, cmon. This is an utterly ridiculous overpay. You realize we’ve seen kane play this year, right?

Let me stop you right there…it isn’t a fit. I don’t think this has made the team better at all, i actually think it’s worse. You’ve overpaid dramatically. The year is 2023. Patrick kane is not the guy you remember from 5 years ago.

You've seen Kane play on a depleted roster void of skill players that is losing constantly, and somehow, with almost no real help at the top of the roster, he is still on pace for 60+ points. Go float your narrative in some Bruins echo chamber. This is not an overpay, it's a bunch of players that aren't worth nearly as much as BOS fans seem to think, that play positions CHI doesn't need to fill, plus a cap dump, and a most likely dead last 32nd overall 1st round pick, with an early 3rd going back the other way. CHI declines.

Guy misses 3 games and everyone loses their minds.

Had 92 points last season on what was still a bad Hawks team.

Put him back with players who can match his skill, and he'll be back right up there.

It’s a high end prospect and a 1st in 23 for Patrick kane. The rest doesn’t matter. He’ll top out at a first.

Yes, i know who is on the roster, but we have seen him play. He isn’t the same guy.

Great, but that was last year. This is this year. You think boston is about to bust about their top six for him? I refer you to the standings. It’s not just a roster thing, that’s a lazy take. His place has declined significantly. He would be the third best RW in boston, and Patrick kane on the third line isn’t a fit.

Swap zboril and lohrei with lysell and take out the 3rd from the hawks. Hawks have zero use for LD. They need forward prospects.

Cmon buddy. Don’t be this pathetic. The glory days are over, and kane isn’t what he once was. You don’t have to be in denial about that. Kane isn’t playing like an elite player. There’s no reason to think he’ll get top rental market value and then some.

The only thing that's pathetic is thinking debrusk is a better player than Patrick kane. Swap teams and debrusk might have 15 points on this hawks team. Kane would be well over a point per game on the bruins

Debrusk scores at a higher rate…way higher rate 5 on 5. Better defensively. Better on the forecheck. Kane is better on the PP, that’s it.

That happens to guys his age that see less pp time and ice time in general. Kane is 30 seconds below his career avg. Just bad luck, nobody to set him up, and no other scoring threat on the ice. Again put him in debrusks spot and he's over a point per game.

Or just keep the guy that’s almost a decade younger, is playing better, is half the price, is signed beyond this season, and is currently a huge part of the first line for a team on pace to break the NHL record for most wins in a season? That seems logical.

Yeah I completely agree with that. Don't see why Boston would add anything with how insane they're playing. And they shouldn't give up any futures with next season probably the start of a rebuild with little cap space and no top 6 centers signed.

They should be willing to give up any and all futures…but for something that genuinely helps them. At this point that seems like depth, not Patrick kane. I just can’t see how he is a big help, and worth disrupting what they have.

Other than the fact that he'd greatly improve bostons top 6 and is a proven playoff performer. He might not even waive for Boston anyways

There’s no guarantee he would help Bostons top six. Boston’s top six has been pretty good this year. He wouldn’t get on the top PP. he might not mesh with bergeron and marchand. Not a good fit with krejci.

That would also bump debrusk down, who might not mesh with coyle…he just doesn’t help.
