They are going to be rumored in every possible trade because of their prospects, cap space and that they are currently in a playoff spot, but I don’t think they will make any big trades.

I think if they do make a trade, it won’t be for a rental and it will be for a player in their core age range. Demko fits that bill imo. Friedman threw out buffalo today as a suitor for Demko, Dhaliwal mentioned them last week.

If they get a goalie, they can do damage in the playoffs as soon as this season

Sabres have the 13th worst all strengths save percentage in the league and the 12th worst 5v5 save percentage. UPL and Comrie both have negative goals saved above expected. Anderson is the only sabres goalie having a good year.

UPL has had a rough path since 2019 with double hip surgery but has also kept us in games this year and doesn't cost a first round pick.

UPL is a rookie, he has been hurt the last couple of years, but has stolen games this year, and has gotten better every game. Much like Miller in 05. Friedman is out to lunch, this is what happens when you stare at raw numbers all day and dump logic. Sabres only make sense to him because of cap space and a very limited understanding of the goaltending situation in Buffalo based on the season total aggregated numbers and not situational, like not ignoring the games where Buffalo had 2 NHL dmen as outlier data. If UPL wasn't making progress, Buffalo isn't losing Casey Fitzgerald to waivers and waiving Hinostroza so they can keep 3 goalies on their roster. This is all without factoring in Levi
