I honestly think this package is a non starter since Demko is hurt. Also he’s been terrible this season. If the kings want someone with a sub .880 save percentage then they have Cal Petersen.

You should target Spence or Grans instead of Durzi. More of a longer term thinking

Your 1st.

You are tying to trade an injured goalie who has been one of the worst in the league with multiple years on his contract. I don't know when his value has been lower. Durzi is a cost-controlled offensive defenseman, he could get a 1st on his own. Also, the Kings would have 15M tied up in just goal (aside from being over the cap).

Not sure if you noticed but every goalie vancouvers used this year has had similarly awful stats. Don’t forget how good Demko has been the 2-3 years prior. It’s tough to be good when you have the worst dcore in the league in front of you

His defense wasn’t any better last year tho…. So I don’t c how that is the issue in this case. OEL and Myers metrics haven’t gotten much worse. It’s just that Demko isn’t bailing them out.

There's no way LA trades for Demko unless Vancouver takes back Petersen.

I could see them including Durzi, but the 1st would need to be conditional upon some performance metric from Demko since he's injured and there's no guarantee that he will ever be the same goaltender. If he doesn't rebound, then the Kings are stuck with an even worse boat anchor contract than Petersen's.

Exactly, he’s good enough to bail them out but can only do that for so long. Imagine the level he’d be at with a good defence in front of him

If Demko has regressed then I wouldn’t give up major assets for him. It’s that simple.

Actually it was. The team over performed for their standard last season. They are much worse this season

My understanding is that OEL and Myers metrics were just as bad last year, BUT Demko bailed them out. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but I think the real difference between the past two years is Demko’s performance and his health.

OEL and Myers has their best seasons in years last season but have come back down to earth this year

They had terrible metrics last year and this year… the main difference is the play of Demko.

Yes they had horrible metrics last year, and somehow got even worse this year. What are you not understanding? Demko has only played 15 games. The other 35 games where he isn’t playing have had equally terrible results

My understanding was the decline in their metrics doesn’t equal the decline in Demko’s play

Obviously Demko wasn’t elite this year, but he only played 15 games. The defense is the clear problem

Was Demko playing through an injury? He's better then his stats this season, I still believe in the guy.

People who believe that a competent GM would take the risk of investing significant assets in Thatcher Demko should research the history of why Jake Oettinger is tending goal for the Dallas Stars.

Yes. He has been injuerd since the end of last season. Idk why but so many Canuck players played through injuries. Mikheyev is a prime example
