If Larkin wants to resign in Detroit long term then stevie bong rips should get it done, otherwise move him, get some assets back, and take a run at resigning him in the offseason.

For that return? No thanks. And how often do players get traded at the trade deadline and then re-sign a few months later with the team who traded them?

Red Wings season will end in April. Gives Yzerman 2 and a half months to continue negotiating with Larkin on a new contract. Why is it so impossible to believe Yzerman can re-sign his own player?

Trade values and likeliness of these deals being done aside. I would absolutely love to see them land both Larkin and Kane. That offense looks deadly!

Yeah, i would hate to get a top offensive d prospect, a top4 LHD, and a 1st rounder for a rental. Terrible value there

Expiring contract + UFA = rental, unless he's signed by TDL he is a rental, worth about as much as the Horvat trade from last week

If he'll sign, sign him. If he wont, trade him. Im not saying Yzerman isn't allowed to resign him, but if he cant by TDL you at the very least need to see what's available via trade.
