Neither Matt Roy nor Alex Iafallo are available, especially for that pile of garbage. The only thing even remotely interesting to LA in that package is Sandin, and he's not worth either of Iafallo or Roy.

Canes aren’t going to take on the Leafs cap dumps for free. And before you go and say they aren’t cap dumps, look how much cap space is remaining and how much Engvall and Holl are getting paid.

Besides, Engvall and Holl do nothing for the Canes. Canes already undersold on Bear to clear up the RHD logjam, adding Holl into the mix is a waste of cap space for someone who will just be sitting in the press box. And Engvall would also end up in the press box, whether it be now or at the deadline, his spot would be as an extra.

I wouldn't trade Alex Iafallo or Matt Roy individually for that melange. But if Antti Raanta is really available, we could offer Carolina directly a reasonable draft pick that would be worth more than two expiring foot soldiers.

The asking price for Gavrikov is a 1st and a 3rd. You've got the 1st, but Yet Another Winger Prospect is not an adequate substitute for the 3rd. We have too many wingers as is.
