A UFA A career AHLer and a 1st and 3rd, And you think that gets you Bertuzzi extended? Make it 2023 1st or no dice. Yzerman isn't doing Dubas any favors.

Think Hawks decline that offer easily.

But how can we stop the Leafs from signing Bertuzzi? If Bert is traded at the deadline, Leafs can sign him to an extension before the summer.

Leafs are a very good team this season and the pick should be a very late one. Wouldn’t it be kinda smart to get an unprotected 2024 1st instead. Atlantic-division sould be super competitive going forward.

I would be fine with the Bertuzzi return if we don't plan to re-sign him. Engvall is young, cheap, and big and capable of playing a role. We could either flip him immediately for some return (we have people on here saying Erne could bring back a third after all), or spend the rest of the season evaluating him to see if we want him signed for next year. McMann doesn't really do anything for me, but he could be useful in Grand Rapids next year. 2023 is an amazing draft year, but you have to wonder if Toronto will struggle to replace their outgoing UFAs with similar talent for the price, so next year's pick might be better.

Engvall has a higher PPG than Bertuzzi this season btw. I know Bertuzzi is a better player but let's not act like Bertuzzi's 2-goal / 6-point season will yield a '23 1st rounder. His value is at it's lowest, and I get that you are a Red Wings fan but be objective here
Also, the extension doesn't matter to Detroit if he's traded at the deadline. Not sure how that brings more value to the trade

Hawks decline. They'll get better offers for Lafferty. Or theylljust keep him if they don't.
