Not getting a 1st and definitely not without at least 30% or $2.6mil in retention. Starts with at least $1mil/yr retained and VAN might get a 2nd

Lol. A) we do not need to dump Lucic and B) it wont cost a 1st or anything at all for that matter to move him

We could simply retain 50% on him and trade him for an asset in return or just keep him. We’ve already paid $3.61mil of the $4mil in actual salary he’s owed this season, so he won’t cost us any assets at all, if he’s even moved

Canucks aren't retaining on a deal for him. And he's not worth as little as you think he is. He's worth at least 50x more than Lucic as is. The first is fair considering a non retained Lucic is going the other way, not to mention you're literally getting a top6 winger for a pylon, a prospect, and a first.

Canucks would take this, Calgary wouldn't.

Even at 50% retained....you are NOT getting an asset for Looch. Scowling does not get you points in the playoffs. You would have to give up at least a 3rd or a 4th to get rid of his cap. Does not matter what actual cash is left.....no one care about that. The only thing that matters at the trade deadline is the cap.

Boeser may go for a late first and a B prospect, but I think that's the most Vancouver gets for him at this stage.

3 or 4 years ago sure but not now. Not without significant retention anyhow.

That statement goes to how much you know about hockey and Lucic. Guys like Lucic are in high demand for the playoffs. 50% retained, he should return something

Even without retention he's the perfect add to a trade for cap reasons. A bottom feeder needing to stay over the cap floor while selling off assets will happily take on a guy with a 5.5 mil AAV who has less than 500k dollars left to be paid on his contract. That team can then get something for him by retaining 50% (which costs them less than 250k dollars) and trading him to a contender looking for more size physicality and leadership.

HAHAHA. Not a chance Looch gets traded to a playoff team even if the flames retain 50%. The deadline will prove me right...and you INCREDIBLY WRONG.
