If the include Greenway, and Vancouver retains $1.5m, it works, no?

That's disgusting overpayment IMO. Not worth it.

Minnesota needs to pay Steel, Addison, Gustavsson and then fill out the rest of the roster with under 10 million in cap space.

I thought I saw a Wild fan say it works.

They do have some ELCs waiting in the wings too.

You might be able to cram it in at 40% retention, but if we're talking about a 1st+prospect on top of Greenway at that point, send him elsewhere.

The only ELC's that factor in to next season are Rossi and maybe Faber.

I was thinking Rossi and Wallstedt over Steel and Goose.

No reason to rush Wallstedt. Gus is good and Fleury still has another year on his contract. Goligoski could be gone regardless and it doesn't make much of a dent. Rossi over Steel actually makes us more expensive (albeit by only 40k+bonuses).

Who would be the cheap scoring winger target then? Duclair? Or just straight rental?

For this year? Possibly no one at this rate. Guerin said no 1sts or 2nds for rentals though. I'm also gonna assume that means no similar value prospects. But we don't have cap space to take on anyone with term.

Next year, unless we send a lot of salary out, we're pretty much gonna be relying on the same group + Rossi. Don't rule out salary out/salary in (ie. something like Middleton for a 2.5M forward). But there's little to no flexibility for money next year.

Getting Boeser at $5M ($1.65M or ~23% retention) works only if Greenway or Foligno (both at ~($3M), Goose, Hartman are shipped out with ELC taking their places.

    KK ($9M)-Rossi ($0.87M)-Zucc ($6M)
    Boldy ($7M)-FreddyG ($1.5M)-Boeser ($5M)
    Duhaime ($1M)-Ek ($5.25M)-Foligno ($3.1M)
    Shaw ($0.9M)-Dewer ($0.8M)-Walker ($0.9M)
Beckman or another cheap vet (0.9M) = $42.22M at FWD

    Middleton ($2.45M)-Spurg ($7.575M)
    Brodin ($6M)-Faber ($0.9M)
    Merril ($1.2M)-Addison ($2M)
    Schenn or another vet ($0.9M) = $21.025M

    Flower ($3.5M)-Gus ($2M) = $5.5M

    Dead caps $14.745M

    Totals $83.49M

What actually would be great would be if Zucker (his family has to be in MN) signed for like 3/4 years at $3-4M. This would alleviate giving up assets for Boeser while potential to keep Hartman. Now if you moved Addison & Greenway in a Boeser deal rather than giving up picks, it could also work as you would be able to target Jake Livingston (rumored college ELC) or cheaper vet presence.

Needless to say, managing the cap will be difficult next year if the Wild want to get better.
