Meier isn't a 9M player. Shouldn't get anything.ore than 8.5M on a long term deal. Refer to the Kyrou and Thomas extensions for reference

I could honestly see them doing that as a TDL move.

Meier is not comparable to Kyrou and Thomas lmfao are you kidding? They're polar opposite players

I love the idea but I believe that BUF needs to have money going out (preferably JS53 if any team is dumb enough to take that contract, maybe throw in a pick to sweeten it) if they do the Meier deal. 9M added to the cap and then having to re-sign RD26 (8y x 9.5M), OP25 (7y x 8M) is going to throw a wrench in it. Plus down the road you have JQ22 JP77 and any of the top 4 prospects down in Rochester of which probably/hopefully 2 of them will demand big deals down the road.

It should be either Buffalo's 2nd or Philly's 2nd. Not Vegas' 2nd.

? So you're excited about a worse pick? I would want Philly's 2nd for Foligno.

No, I was joking that I don’t want Buffalo to know that a lower 2nd might get accepted.

Only way they can retain on the deal is if he's traded after July 1st. Cant retain on deals that haven't started yet

They are similar caliber players. Meier is a cheap mans Tkachuk though if you want a stylistic comparison

You’re dreaming. Foligno costs $3 million and has 11 points on the year. Without any retention you’re never getting a second round pick for him. Nobody should be paying a fourth line winger $3 million a year.

Okay I'll take that. I though\t you were saying Meier played a similar style game to Kyrou and Thomas. My apologies.

He’s getting $3.1 million this year for his 15 points thus far. Excuse me for being off by .1. Nobody should be paying a fourth line winger $3 million a season. If he were in Buffalo, that’s probably where he’d be. If anyone is dumb enough to give up a second round pick for a 4th liner making in excess of $3 million, you should make that trade already.

You were off by:
1) $.1M
2) 4 points
3) which line he plays on
4) how much he will return

That’s spectacular given you only wrote four sentences

Have you noticed you’re the only person who gives a crap about three of the four things? In Buffalo he would probably be on the fourth line, and they should definitely not be paying a fourth line player $3 million. Like I said, previously, if you can really get a second round pick from somebody for him, you better do it before they get smart enough to realize that’s a terrible idea. Even the latest of the three second round picks Buffalo currently holds would be an overpayment for him if there is no salary retention. I have my doubts Minnesota has any intention of trading him. But if they do, I would be absolutely shocked if they managed to get a second round pick from anyone without having to retain salary, or include something else of value on their side.
