RIP Krav

Created by: ItsBreach
Team: 2022-23 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 13, 2023
Published: Feb. 13, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
this trade is pretty much jeannot for krav and a fourth. lesch it a throw in for the rangers and cap space. there's pretty much no reason for him to be on a team the way he is currently playing. maybe bump that pick up or add in another, but krav plus a fourth should be more than enough in this case

Don't think NSH will be interested, but would it be wise for NYR to make this trade considering Jeannot needs a new contract? Don't think Jeannot will get much of a pay bump (unless he does something special after a trade) but they already got a ton of guys to sign.

They should just circle back on Kane and try to add him anyways starting with Kravtsov+2024 2nd.

Jeannot is probably gonna take a late 1st or early 2nd as a starting point. And I don't think NSH should be looking to move him in any serious capacity.

Jeannot has 13 points in 50 games, cant see him being worth a late 1st or early 2nd.

Did you not see the Tarasenko return? It's right on the front page.

Jeannot is an RFA and his rookie season is definitely going to have a factor as well as the type of player he is.

That is just how much NSH likes him. So he is having a sophmore slump, big whoop, that just means NSH is gonna be able to lock him up at a lower cap hit and get more surplus out of him down the road. He is 25, is on an almost league minimum contract, and all indications are that he has a great career ahead of him. Players can be valuable for reasons other than points too, but I still think he is going to do plenty of scoring in his NHL career.

He shot like 22% one season. He's a bottom 6 forward.

Larry brooks put this Jeannot trade into the heads of rangers fans. It really needs to stop. Why would he be available?? Why would they trade him for what amount to garbage?

He is 25, put up a half a point per game in his first full NHL season, and he is only in his second full season. He has more upside than what we have seen from him this year. No matter what statistic you want to cite, NSH just isn't going to give him up for scraps. It's going to take an overpay. Maybe in a year or two when they know what he is you could get away with that offer, but right now there is too much upside to just send him off with essentially nothing to show for it. If they had a roster that had better depth, they might consider risking it. But it just doesn't make sense for NSH in the least bit, right now.

Kravtsov is bad, Lesch has been solid and will be a good spare going forward, Jeannot has young Goody/Hagel value.

I'm not arguing that he might be overvalued where he plays right now. That's normal. I am also not saying that this is enough for him given Kravstov's situation. I wouldn't trade a cost controlled roster player, if I were NSH. They could probably get Kravstov for a 3rd if they wanted him. I'm just saying this season is more in line with who he is as a player. Still valuable. And if he had scored another 20 goals maybe you could convince a team that he's the next Brandon Hagel.

Sure, if NSH did want to move him right now at just a baseline market value, this might be close. That is still a pretty bold suggestion though. I don't think anyone believes this is his ceiling. But you have to incentivize them enough to give up on his upside. And him being cost controlled makes it an easier decision for them to just hang on to him rather than take an offer that doesn't reflect what NSH projects him to be. Then again NSH front office could have other ideas. Maybe they think Kravstov has a lot more than what we've seen from him in NY or would flourish more in their system, as well. But I definitely think they value Jeannot more than this.
