The draft compensation if you can't re-sign him is the 2nd last pick in the 2nd round (so yes basically Arizona's 3rd). He hasn't done anything remarkable enough to warrant more than that and odds are high he's not going to sign with a bottom feeder like the Coyote's

Maybe they aren’t the right fit for him, but a team that wants to sign him would be the one that would trade for him wouldn’t they? If he won’t sign in Buffalo, and that’s not really guaranteed yet, he’s a trade chip to include in any deal they want to make with a team that might sign him.
