Hronek, Vrana, 2nd, 3rd, and lots of retained dollars for Wright and Schultz? No thank you.

No way Yzerman is retaining that much on any player. He needs cap to sign Larkin, Raymond, Hronek and Seider going forward.

You gotta be kidding us.

Hronek > Schultz.

No freaking way is Yzerman eating half on Vrana for 1.5 years and 50% on Karlsson for 4.5 years. We don't need that much dead money with Larkin and Raymond and Seider needing new deals.

If Wright was on the board for Karlsson why wouldn’t San Jose just deal straight with Seattle and skip Detroit and get a future center?

That’s a possibility, but Hronek gives them a RD, Vrana could be really good, and a first round draft pick isn’t that bad..

We have a lot of cap space and young players on ELC, is fours years of 5.5mill for Wright that much of a concern?

Giving up Wright and a first round pick to upgrade a RD spot from Schultz to Karlsson is probably a bridge farther than Seattle will be willing to go. Their competitive window is still in the future, and for as otherworldly a season as Karlsson is having, he's still 32. By the time the Kraken are ready to seriously contend Wright will likely be a bigger contributor than Karlsson.

This isn't totally outlandish. I don't think Seattle does this, but it does help a lot today. I think SJ needs to be the team retaining the bulk of EK's salary.

I'd say have SJ eat the EK salary, and Detroit adds Buium to the SJ haul.

Hronek seems to be having a great year, why move him?
