As a Blackhawks fan, I can tell you that that is a huge overpay at this point, unless Kane gets a return based on his reputation as a hall-of-famer . . . He's been cr*p lately; claims it's not this hip injury that has been plaguing him for a couple years. But if it's not, then has he suddenly aged? Is he cranky about not being traded to the Rangers? Is he so conflicted over being traded that he can't play?

Anyway, most CHI fans are dialing back their expectations. If they can pry away a first, that would be great, but I think it would come at the expense of including Lafferty in the deal. Maybe Kane & Lafferty for a 1st and Robertson? or a 1st and a 2nd? Maybe it's even another Kyle-Kyle picks swap?

Hawks probably accept. Leafs can keep Abramov and Robertson.

Kane is playing on the worst team in the league and if you're watching him night in and night out, he's creating opportunities that the team around him isn't capitalizing on and as such is disengaged on the ice at least 50% of the time. How heavy it ways on the pysch when this happens night in and night out, the front office is only interested in a 3 to 5 year plan, and Kane is a loyal Hawk that wants to win. Add to it all the media hounding him about waiving all season and all the articles and news about it. This isn't about Kane all the sudden going from a top playmaker (as evidence by last year) to being average because his ability or age has dramatically impacted him in less then a year. That's not a realistic view. In other words, put him on Toronto's or Vegas's top 6 and Kane is back to a 90 point player.

That said, this is an overpay, but Kane + Laf for a 1st, Robertson (or Voigt) and a 3rd is probably about fair if Kane agrees to waive for more then 1 team.

I’d really doubt Bortuzzo has much more value than a late round pick. However, a couple of issues within moving him. He’s been here a long time and seems to be a fairly popular locker room guy. He also has another season under contract, again not a big issue his cap hit is fairly small.

He’s not a great player anymore. He’s gritty depth at best who can PK well on a 3rd pair. If we do receive a RD prospect or player in another deal I could see it being a bit more feasible. We’ve already received Skinner so maybe that helps. But if Bortuzzo is moved Santini has to be called up. It’s fairly lateral in terms or just depth guys. But our RD pool is so bare at the moment all that’s left after that is Lyle and Skinner, I’d wonder if the Blues would want to decimate Springfield like that.

Again value of Bortuzzo or what he returns id expect to be a 4th at most and that’s only because he has an extra contracted year. In general I’d say he’s worth a 5th or 6th. It’s more so logistics of how scarce we are at that position bud it’s worth it

You don't think it's the 8...ish AHLers on the team any given night? Kane's a playmaker, but when you have Kaner setting up Tyler Johnson where TJ's got zero defenders between him and the goalie...you've got to be able to make a shot. That's happened multiple times with Jason Dickinson too. His talents are just being wasted because the opposing team knows that no one else can do anything.

The Blackhawks would surely take that . . . they may get a second just for Lafferty, so it's still probably an overpay, especially if Kane doesn't approve more than 1 or 2 teams.

it's not only that. He's had good games this year and bad . . . and if it was just a matter of bad teammates, we'd have seen this all year from him. But he's clearly been pretty awful lately--I'm not really seeing a guy out there who's making plays that teammates can't convert. Again: maybe it's the psychological effect of playing with a bad team all year, but it's not like he's the best player on the ice and nothing's happening for them offensively because of his teammates.

Oh, I understand. He's a great role player and super cheap. Which is exactly why he's presumably not going anywhere.
