would want TOR's 23' 1st over their 24' 1st, otherwise not terrible
Not sure how TOR signs Meier without later losing Nylander. Maybe pray to the salary cap gods (Bettman)

I've seen the Timo asking price but no one in San Jose media has reported the Karlsson asking price. Link?

That would be a gross overpay for Karlson imo. Would be fun this year and next but then it gets ugly

Ya, That's pretty close to the reported ask. plus or minus Bourgault, I honestly wonder if the Oilers are just trying to get a 3rd team involved to eat some CAP too.

This ain't it, chief. This is more than 3 first round picks value and Grier himself poured cold water on the suggestion that was his ask.

Grier, on if he’s asking for three first-round picks for Karlsson: "I’m not gonna really get into what we’re asking for. But I don’t think that’s totally accurate."

Lets do the math here.....

Bourgault is really the only first round pick, JP was taken 4th overall but JP is money out as is Barrie. The substance of the trade will be Barrie & Bouchard, the other players are strictly for CAP purposes.
This is why I've heard that Bourgault isn't even involved.

That's the ask chief, whether you like it or not.

Uh... you call yourself an Oilers fan and think that Bourgault is the only first round pick here?? Bouchard is the most valuable piece here. Then the 2023 first. Then Barrie. Then Bourgault. This is MORE than "3 firsts" value. And MIKE GRIER said he wasn't asking that much.

Clueless.

Those TOR prospects are not gonna cut it. Knies is a decent prospect, but not a top and Voit is a joke.

Bouchard isn't the most valuable piece! He's a prospect at best and a sure fire liability the like of a Justin Schultz! SJ is looking at potential of Bouchard. Oiler fans are the best! simply refuse to believe the value there players actually have.
Barrie is far more important than Bouchard in terms of on ice success.
Where do you get Bourgault from? I said he's most likely NOT involved!

This is whats floating around Edmonton, you can accept it or be an asshole about it, that's what's out there!!

Not a fan of his long hair? Not sure if legal in Canada, but might be able to add a hair cut maintenance clause in the deal - Yankees style.

IDGAF what's being floated around Edmonton. Do you not know who Mike Grier is? His word trumps whatever you've heard floating around.

With a reasonable retention (20-25) I think now that Bourgault does get downgraded to a lesser forward prospect with 23'1st+Bouchard+Barrie+Bobblehead being the main parts. Athletic article just talked about the most likely main pieces. So that would get away from the 3 1sts.

Grier's joking response is vague and can be interpreted different ways depending on what you want. For instance he could be saying he literally was not asking for 3 1sts: 2023, 2024, 2025

Mike Grier is an Ex Oiler............IDGAF what you think Grier knows. When the top insiders in the game are floating these names, then it's logical to assume that's the ask.

In my experience 99% of the time when someone posts, “reported…” but don’t say who reported it, they made it up.

Depends on the asks, but they can certainly get through next season with Meier at $9Mx8. Nylander might price himself out but that is also why adding Meier is so important. He would reduce the reliance on Nylander and allow Toronto to at least consider a trade during the contract year.
