Way off doesn't even begin to describe it. It's way, way, way, way, way, way off.

Honestly it depends on what value Erik has around the league

no not honestly depends on the value.... Sharks are not retaining 5.5 mil for 5 years first of all.

Second of all, not enough value in play at all.. Timo unretained will get more value from NJD who have like the 6th best prospect pool... its nice to dream but can guarantee this would never happen

and whether Karlsson wants to go to the city
and whether or not Grier is willing to take a loss while shipping him off, which I don't think he will
think EK stays in SJ

So you're basically trying to get Mike Grier fired? But hey it's great for the Leafs, right?

Bruh. The retention alone. 🤔

Get 2 elite players, one with 30 mill of retention, without giving up your top prospect.

When you get past the garbage its a meier offer of 2 1sts, voit, and niemela.
And then karlsson for TJ brodie, Kerfoot (worthless) and Abruzzese

Hey SJ is getting elite Marlies, a UFA who if he had great value Dubas would have moved him already, and Brodie who helps SJ not at all

Future AHL hall of famer Joey Anderson wasn't even included.

Can the devils interest you in our 4 C+ defensive prospects who have no chance of being part of our long term plans and a 1st for timo meier. Take Vilen, Walsh, Bahl, and Okhotyuk, and we'll even throw in a mediocre forward prospect as well. Quantity over Quality BABY

Would you throw in some of the Rock's fried Oreos and some Path train tickets?

Brodie definitely wouldn't waive, and Toronto wouldn't get rid of their most defensively reliable D-man even for Karlsson as much as Dubas would love to fleece Grier on a Karlsson trade.

Agree with a lot of what you said here, but Kerfoot having great value or good value (he's just another guy this year) doesn't mean he would be traded already. That would be even more reason to keep him, especially since they like him. Moving him isn't that either, since he has a 10-team NTC, and a 3.5m cap hit that not many teams can fit. With his offensive numbers down this year, none would probably want him at 3.5m too. Better off targeting Barbashev at 2.25m or O'Reilly at 50% retention (think it's 3.75m). If he's traded it will be much closer to trade deadline day, but I doubt he will.

Regardless if sharks want to move him they have to retain for sure or just keep that 11 mill cap hit

No matter what sharks have to retain and no teams paying crazy amount he probably can’t be moved

Why do the Leafs even consider this.....for cap reason next season.
Brodie doesn't waive so it's kinda of a moot point anyway cap
