Myers to the Leafs is just troll nation speculation. He's a garbage player.

So if you were Toronto you'd rather keep murray and holl over Myers and cap space?

I’d rather keep Casey and Boqvist over risking a lot of dollars on Boeser

You'd rather sure, but this makes NJ better in the end, if they are rumored to be after Timo, he's gonna cost a hell of a lot more than this

Timo Meier is a much better and more complete player than Brock Boeser. I’d expect something like a 2nd and a lower end prospect tops for Boeser given his defensive struggles almost completely overshadow his production on offense

Sure but understand he is a group 6 UFA at the end of this season unless he plays 23 more NHL games. So with 27 games remaining in the Canucks season he would have to be traded at latest before the 27th of February to play in the Dallas game

Correct, but I don’t see why Meloche wouldn’t want to re-sign with VAN if they like what they see after just 10-20 games, since he’d definitely get more opportunity and playing time in VAN

A 3rd + Meloche is fair for Schenn

Im simply letting them know that he could become a UFA. The trade would happen around then anyways since the Canucks only have that game on the 27th and a game on the 2nd before TDL

Oh definitely no argument over the fact that meier is way better than boeser, but for value wise with the deal I offered here and going forward, I think it's fair. If NJ does end up getting Timo, I feel they would have to give up far to much, and then have to resign him to at least 1 yr 10 million, or long term, still likely in the 8 to 9 range..is that worth it in the end, versus a 2 year + playoff run of boeser?

I was just supporting and verifying your statement, since the poster might say, well in that case we wouldn’t be interested in Meloche, which shouldn’t be the case.

He’s NHL Ready and I wouldn’t want to lose him, but if we bring in another RD instead of giving him a try, he probably doesn’t Re-sign or stay with CGY and I wouldn’t blame him, so better to send him as a replacement and future player for VAN who need a couple new RD’s anyway

I really don't want to sound disrespectful as I am just trying to be honest but...

If we were trading Holl and a 3rd for a bottom pairing RHD with retention I would rather try CLB and $4 MIL man Gudbranson. I would see if they would retain $1 MIL for Holl and simply getting out of that horrible contract. I would then get a 3rd team retain $1 MIL for the 3rd pick.

They are about the same defensively (read: kind of bad) but Gudbranson plays tougher and is an under rated fighter if the need arises.

Fair enough, just heard some rumours about tor possibly having interest in Myers, and what a deal might look like.

That’s not disrespectful at all and you make a good point, but then you’d still be stuck with Murray…. Wouldn’t you like to clear him & his cap out or do you still have faith he’ll return and be a good puck stopper for the Leafs!?

Pursue a rental like Bernier or go back to OTT for Talbot after dumping Murray

That's kinda what I was trying to point out, yes I know Myers isn't great, but apparently they are looking for size, and maybe Myers finds his game again a little in a new system, but Toronto getting out from murray, might be worth it, plus I had the connection with Murray and canucks management again, maybe they still believe in Murray?

Yeah, I had heard some of those rumours as well and thought you were being above board with your trade suggestion but like @RipNasty said, I also think the suggestion that the Leafs would trade assets for Myers was internet trolling and not realistic in what we need at all.

All the best!

I don't think that a 2023 first and three prospects gets you Chychrun, even if the first IS a ticket to the Bedard sweeps (why aren't you protecting it?).

I think Leafs Asst GM Pridham might have considered the possibility of Murray's cap hit hurting the Leafs because his buyout this summer leaves the Leafs with only a $687,500 Cap Hit from his initial $4,687,500 Cap Hit. It's crazy but if the Leafs simply buy him out they would save $4 MIL on the Cap.

I definitely would think that would and should be enough to land chychrun, Arizona has him valued far to high, or he would have allready been traded..its been drug out for over a year, time to move on, no other team rumored to be in on chychrun has a top 5 pick to offer for starters, hoglander is past the prospect stage and ready to be a full time player and has shown a lot of promise and he should be allready full time but canucks don't know how to manage there players, and Rathbone and McDonough are gonna be good players, Rathbone again should be playing in nhl full time, but canucks never give him enough chances.
