Making Boeser work next year

Created by: TanSor

Description
Trade is made before 2023 TDL. This is operating under the assumption the Canucks only want to retain in the $1-1.5M range for Boeser and while this is outside that range, it isn't by much. Cap is really tight even with a few guys underpaid.

Wild probably have to throw in another sweetener to make this work and sign different players to fill out the depth.

I don’t think people realize Schenn is not the level of defenseman he’s being made out to be. We would absolutely regret moving Addison for this.

What would be the cost of putting like 2M in Arizona on Boessers deal? a couple 2nds? Also - at this point, with only 18k in cap room, I believe that Faber's draft year means his max cap hit is 925k, which does add a whopping 25k lol

this trade does nothing for Van. Addison a nice piece but not at the cost of eating Greenway's cap and Goligoski who is of 0 use to VAN. On top of that adding Schenn who will fetch a good pick which is more valuable to VAN

No reason for the Canucks to do this. They can get a better return for Boeser without having to eat Greenway and Goligoski’s cap, and can move Schenn for a 2nd or 3rd

i think schenn is exactly what people think he is. 3rd pair stay at home, physical RHD. While id agree the rumored price for him is what youd normally associate with a guy of that discription but in a flat cap world, where the canucks can retain and have him below league min hes gonna net a good return. Especially considering his playoff pedigree and the lack of good, defensive RHD on the market.

They’d ask for a 1st and probably wouldn’t take on dead term for less, nor should they. If it was for a single year, maybe they’d take a 2nd and 3rd but not for 2.

I would do this and move Foligno and try to convince MAF to retire as well…that way a couple of your undervalued contracts can be righted.
Nucks fans are completely delusional about Boeser’s worth!

I also wouldnt be opposed to giving up a 1st for him, he is 25 years old and has proven he can be a 30+ goal scorer, if the wild don't get him I see them backing into the playoffs barely based off how they are playing, which would lead to being a early 20s pick, if they get him, I think they win maybe 1 round this year solidifying the top 6 with a shoot first winger to play with Boldy and actually can play the CORRECT side on the PP instead of having someone with their stick to the boards on the half wall (sorry, this has has been a gripe of mine for years, no elite PP has a lefty on the left boards) which would put them to a mid to late 20s pick this year and a quality player going forward, I think if the ask were to be the next 2 years firsts and some prospects that arent top end, I do it.
