This would be a fantastic deal for the Jets. Schmaltz is really good and underrated playing in ARI. We may have to give up one of the big three forward prospects though to get him (Lucius, McGroarty, Lambert).
I think the Jets also trade for a D though. I hope it's an real impact guy but I see more of a depth piece being the reality

Well if they acquire Schmaltz, maybe they deal Dubois and get Anderson+a Dman (Savard or Edmundson) from MTL.

Like you say, need that impact guy to pair up with Morrissey. DeMelo just isn't that guy.

Not sure how u can complain about Melo. He's absolutely enabling JMo to have the career season he's been having so far. WPG can def use a D upgrade, but it doesn't start at DeMelo.

I actually like the 44-2 pairing.
I'd prefer they upgrade the second pair (in a real meaningful way) to have two good pairs. 44-2 can get some easier matchups then, and could likely take advantage in the Ozone more often

You may hate it but if it wouldn't surprise me, Chevy is going to want to bring in guys who have term. Anderson has that, he isn't playing to his AAV, but GMs take chances on guys who have skill sets that they want. If they can shore up the defence a bit and recuperate some of what they lose in acquiring Schmaltz (like a 1st rounder perhaps), it would be making the best of a bad situation.

Not sure how they would add Savard or Edmundson, but maybe they can get Xhekaj for depth. It would be a problem for the off-season most likely anyways though.

If the Jets trade Dubois to MTL, it's going to be for at least 1 1rst + 2 B+ tier prospects and then maybe an Anderson or a Savard. Potentially could also be a 3 way trade with Zona and MTL where you get Schmaltz and Anderson/Savard, MTL gets Dubois and Zona gets the prospects that MTL would've end up paying for Dubois - 1 of the prospects.

I think the return will be a little less, and for that reason it's probably something that is left for the off-season. Perhaps Dubois has a change of heart and extends.

There is no way Chevy would tell "the experts" that he was inquiring about Schmaltz . It may be tampering or at least it's an unwritten law that GMs talk about other teams players in trade. Heck they don't even talk about their own players by name.

I don't think anyone is complaining about DeMelo, they're just aware he's not a top pair dman.

I don't think DeMelo can consistently play top 4 minutes. Demelo is having a good year but that is maybe because he is paired with Morrissey. Just hope Chevy can get rid of Schmidt's contract and sign Severson in the off season.

Severson would be dope; def should be a target in the offseason. I feel WPG would need a really good showing in the playoffs for him to even look our way tho.
