Not when the only team he'd accept a trade to is the Rags

This is sad. The mighty Patrick Kane being traded for a 💩 sandwich. Makes me want to stop being an NHL fan to be honest.

I know no one cares. That's fine. It's just embarrassing in my opinion . As much as I'm a fan of the Red Wings, I'm also a fan of the game. This just feels wrong somehow.

I just wanted to get that off my chest. I have nothing against the Rangers.

Agree in full. I still think that the Hawks sneak a number 1 in the return. KD is stubborn enough to hold onto Kane rather than sell him low.

While I agree to a certain level, you see this in all sports to a degree.

Think of a guy like Westbrook in the NBA, traded for peanuts/dumped, bought out, and then signed to a new team mid season. Just the reality of aging stars, they can't play like they used to, and don't have the value either.

You're right. I don't follow the NBA. But I know it's quite common. I think it just hit me a different way with Patrick Kane. I used to watch him play for the London Knights OHL team where he'd dominate each game.

But all I heard from people was "he's too small. He'll never make it." And he just kept proving his naysayers wrong. He's gone on to win 3 Cups. He's a future hall of famer. And now he's apparently being traded for a bunch of players and picks who will most likely never accomplish much in the NHL.

Kane had 7 goals in 3 games this week, saying he can't play like he used to after that kind of week is like saying a Ferrari is just another car. Any package for Kane will include a 2023 1st round pick (even if it has to have conditions attached). Also neither Kane or his agent have confirmed that it's only the Rags, it's just speculation like PLD will only sign with Montreal long-term. There may be a note of truth in there but just like PLD if the Hawks don't like the offer for Kane they will try to convince him to waive for another destination and the Hawks will use the weak package as leverage to convince Kane that NY really doesn't want him cause they are low balling their offers.

A lot of what I wanted to say has already been said. I'll add that, Jones shouldn't be even the slightest bit interesting to CHI. Krav and Les have little to no value. So the rangers are essentially getting Patrick Kane for a late 2nd and some scraps. I don't think KD should or will accept such a lowball offer. Kane is not the declining player everyone keeps trying to say he is. He is still a great player but he is on a low skill, low event, inconsistent team. Not to mention they just gutted the team last year and traded away two of his good friends and linemates. Too many people ignore the mental strains of all these variables.

The fact that people ignore all of these important variables when arguing a price for Kane just leads me to believe you all just want to throw any turd narrative at the wall to see what sticks so that you can get a superstar for little to no cost. KD should sooner just not trade him than accept such mocking offers. But I guess we'll see.

I didn't say anything about the NY stuff at all, but good points in any case.

But personally, I'm not sure a good week means he's back to his old form. He can't play consistently to his old form, although he will show flashes I'm sure. So would Jagr if he came back. The reality is their consistency and value has plummeted compared to the peak of their careers, that is what happens with aging and wear and tear.

Comparing a human body to a machine is just a faulty starting point. Human parts can't be replaced or repaired as easily or as completely as machinery.
