They are entering their rebuild right now, 4 years of retained salary isn't going to hurt it that at all.

Detroit needs a cheap 3rd pair defensive RD not Karlsson.

With both Seider and Hronek having great years there's no need to spend that kind of money to get a player like Karlsson.

He's right SJS is already retaining $2.72M on Burns for 3yrs, so retaining $5.75M on Karlsson for 5yrs isn't going to happen. Grier wouldn't make it to playoffs before getting fired. Plus if SJS was willing to retain 50% of his salary this offer easily gets beat.

He us having a great season but this is the 1st time in the last 5yrs he has played more that 56 games. As a Detroit fan I think we are better off without Karlsson .
